The dastardly scoundrel who last night red Scudder A Bro's livery Stable, located between the Third Presbyterian and Zion'a Churches, must have a strange heart if heoouid look unmoved this morningnpon the Vandalism committed- Upon the floor of the stable lav twenty-seven horses, suffocated to death by the smoke and heat; while upon the floor above werp; numerous road wagons and fine burned to a crisp, and partially if not etfectnally ruined. Thetorch was evidently thrown through the jwindow into the hay stored on the aecolnd at the rear of the stable, and this'natarplly very; Inflammable material instantly generated a terrible heat and smoke, which came near suffocating the employes, who were in the f5ce, and it was: with, difficulty they made their escape one in particular, Knight, having great trouble, in reaching the frontdoor. Some of the live were "especially valuable, Harry Sheets having one valued at $1,000, Morris, $500, Ballard, ditto, and so on. Some few of these were insured, but 1 during the confusion of today it is impossible to tell which. The Scudder were insured for $lj900 in the Franklin, and S2.100 in the German American of New York; but this will1 not cover their loss.
