Tax Vote Slated By City Council The El Dorado City Council adopted an ordinance Thursday night calling for a special election for the purpose of voting on a one-half mill tax increase. The tax increase will cover the issuance and sale of bonds in the amount of $150,000 which is needed to renovate the City Hall and the city jail. Mayor I.L. Posses stated prior to the reading of the ordinance that an application had been made to the Crime Commission for their maxim um grant to help in the renovation He stated that a grant in the amount of $40,000 had been approved by the commission. The date of th election as set for March 14 In other action, the council approved two resolutions condemning prope rty owned by the Henson Estate and Mrs.

Abbie Renfroe. The resolutions stated that the properties were fire hazards and constituted a public nuisiance. The council also passed a resolution authorizing the city attorney to file a condemnation of property suit in Circuit Court in order to obtain the property just west of and adjacent to the parking lot of the City Hall The property is needed in order to improve parking facilities and make a better passageway for emergency vehicles. A petition for a street light in the 1000 block of Brookwood was approved by the council. A bid was granted to Foster Olds-American Co.

for a car to be used by the police department and another bid was granted to Hushing and Mason Co. for a self-propelled vibrating roller for the street department The council authorized the mayor to pay bills totaling $9,878.89. Upon completion of his military service, he was assigned to Port Arthur, Texas, and has been employed by Gull at Pittsburgh, Pa and Miami, Fla prior to being assigned to the Asian field of operations, headquartered at Tokyo.
