The Catholic l'aitoral Vhtuige. 'e suited a few days since that a change had taken place at St. Vincent' Church, by which the Bev. John P. Douelan was to ba its future pastor.

We ha vo since received, from a reliable source, a full statement of the chance, both as it atleets the churches concerned inBaltimoreand Washington. It appeals that' the Kev. Chniles J. White retires from St. Vincent's as slated, on account of ill health, nnd that tho Kev.

William Parsons, his former assistant, hns been appointed assistant pastor of St Patrick's Church, at Washinirtou. The Kev. James B. Donelnn has taken charire of St. Matthew's Church, Washington, nnd the Kev.

John P. Donelan of St. Vincent's, Baltimore, whilst the Kev. Michael Slattery is to be assistant pastor of St. Vincent's.

Further We noticed a singular robbery in yesterday which is said lo have been committed in Holland, near Eden street. Chesterfield, it appears, is the nniiie of the man and woman who decamped with the property. They were seen going in the direction of the Philadelphia bout a little before o'clock on Wednesday nlternoon. The old man who has been robbed is named Chas, MeSliane. he cnutiieraics the following items as having been taken from him, viz: in gold; uIkiiiI 'lil in silver; Is sold and silver watches: 1 BALTIMORE, SATURDAY, SF.rT.

19. IB46. Tub Cavhria. The Telegraph Dm hit; yesterday afternoon rumors were curt-out throughout the oily, of despatches received per telegraph, by one or more of our citizens, of the arrival of the Cambria at Boston, and of an ad-vancc in the prion of flour nnd grain. Such rumor in the present feverish state of the market was calculated to produce considerable anxiety, luit it seemed impossible for any one to trace the information to nn authentic source.

Between four nnd five o'clock, the teleisrrntili announced a despatch in the Philadelphia olfice, 'For the Sun," nnd followed with the usual "are you ready-" An affirmative reply was struck upon the instrument, but from that moment, it was evident that the communication from Baltimore to Philadelphia had ceas ed. No rejoinder came Irom l'lulnueipuiu afterwards during tho the communication was uninterrupted; tho operator, however, continued to manipulate, nnd all his remarks were duly recorded in the oilioe here; but gettinir no reply from Baltimore, he of course supposed his communication did not come Ihromrh, and therefore did not send on the despatch. Between Oand 1Q o'clock at nifrht, the communication with Washington linviiij; closed, that battery was transferred to the Philadelphia circuit, and on the infant of its application, the intercourse was resumed between Baltimore and Philadelphia, and wo were enabled to order our despatch forthwith and to receive it, and it will be found in another column. The experience of last eveninc; must not pass without notice; inasmuch as it involves mutter of importance. It proves that for want of proper arrangement, the force of nn extra battery to surmount the resistance of the atmosphere, or some other cause, we were deprived of an opportunity to lay the Cambria's newsbeforo the public some twelve hours earlier than we do.

And however important might have, been the inlelli-jrence to communicate, the result would, of courso, have been the same. Arrival of the Camhiiia. Tho news by the Canibria. which we publish in another col- limn, is, at this moment, of much interest. he arrival has been anticipated with good di al of anxiety, especially by the flour and irrniu merchants, and the inte licence which she brings, though not calculated to excite specula lion, or produce any extravagant effect, has a steady and favoruble aspect.

Tho probabilities are that flour and grain, with Indian corn will mainlnin fair prices, and that the English market will still invito our breadstuff's, at a favorable rate. The news of the improvement in the iron trade, will have a corresponding effect in this country. Upon the whole the intelligence is gratifying; and just sufficient to whet the appetite for the next steamor. Te Ceiilbtoation of the opening, and dedication of the Odd Follows' Hall lately erected in Philadelphia, which took place on Thursday, with its grand procession and other ceremonies, the Ledger says, "rivalled in splendor and magnificence any thing of the kind that ever occurred in that city." It must have been a most gorgeous affair from all accounts. Kxfokts.

The Time is at ITitnd. The relaxation of those restrictive principles which have been carried to so great an extent throughout the civilized world, in their application to commercial pursuits, is al. ready tending to the development of the true wealth of nations an ainplesoil and an industrious people. And, under this influence, it is sufficiently apparent that the United Slates, from the great advantages of circumstance and position, must be ever in the ascendant. Her true wealth is favorably contrasting with the mere representatives of it among the people of other nations; her real resources may 1 safely put in competition with all the artificial elements of life, as they exist in any other country on the face of the glut.

Every one of the tin-. failing tributaries of national prosperity is in" eluded within the present boundaries of our domain; and nothing can be added, but promises in the accession greatly to augment the general opulence of the land. Our commerce, under the influence of an enlightened and liberal policy on the part of Europe, will rapidly exhibit such an increase of exportation, as cannot fail to depict the most cheering auspices for the future. And we have every reason to believe, that there will be gra-daally added to our foreign trade every species of produce peculiar to our noil. A contcmpo rary aptly, and as the facts by the late arrivals from Europe have shown, justly remarks, that, "the prospect of a comparatively unrestricted trade wnh Europe, under the new tariff law, ha already contributed to give such impetus to the gram markers, as to raise the price of the breadstutrs grown throughout the Wcst some fifteen or twenty per cent." The following lab'e, given by the New York Express, shows the comparative exportation in 1S-I-') and I KM, thus far, of what may be called, in view of its great nnd sudden increase, almost a new articte of export rye: None V'lC.

bushels, W.r.H ..41, A pnl, Mat Jinv July AtlKUKt. i ictnber Nearly all this amount, shvs the Express, lias been shipped exclusively to Holland; and more than XflOO bushels ar already engaged to he exported to tho same country during the month of September. The increased shipments of other breadstuff, (lour, wheat, and corn, are, according to the same authority, in a similar proportion, and at advanced prices. Our own city also begins to feel the glow nnd healthful excitement of that policy, which is destined to unfold many of the hidden blessings aud privihyxs of national intercourse; and our marine returns lor a few days pul, afford re markable and cheering indications of the rising importance of Baltimore, as an Atlantic com mercial mart. Within forty-eight hours, we have recorded the arrival of between twenty and thirty ships, besides a number of banpies and brigs, and the schooner of the oasling, and small cralt of tho bay trade.

In a few days these white winged messengers will go forth again upon the broad deep, bearing to tho mul titude of other lands thu luxuriant produce of our own, diversities with such articles of our domestic ingenuity and skill as are acceptable abroad; and thus the reciprocity of intercourse elicit under the genial blessinirs of peace, and foster into practical ellecl, all tho varied ele tneuts of national greatness and prosperity And in this development, it needs no oracle to declare, that Die manilold advantages are to us and ours the ration mid tho people of this great republic IrrontAvr Nkw Exi-kctihi. IS, 1SIG. The steamer Cambria arrived at her wharf, in Boston, this (Friday) morning, after a passage of 13 days and a half. She brings 11M passengers, nnd timonirst thorn I observe the names of the Hon. Washington Irving, our Minister to Spain; B. Manor, bearer of de spatches; and the renowned Cruiksiiaiik.

whoso skill 'and humor as a caricaturist, are familiar all over the world. I have received your file of papers, and make such extracts for telegraphic u-o as 1 think will be most acceptable to your readers, as of leading importance, in a mercantile und general point of view. Tho grain harvest in England is over; the crop has been gathered, and it seems to be ge nerally admitted that it will be tut average one The late heav storms have somewhat impaired the bright hopes of tho early summer. The Potato crop it is alleged, and appears to be believed, is a failure in all parts of the conn try; and in the prospective loss of this staple of course public attention turns wuh more in terest to the corn meal of the I'niled Stales. The Bank of England has lowered its rate of discount to 3 per an indication of course that money is still more plentiful in London, notwithstanding the railway demand.

Joseph Henry, the poor iiiono-manine who fired a couple of pistols at Louis Phillippe, tlie King of France, was sentenced to work in the gallevs for life; thus failing to realize his de clared purpose, in the commission of the act, which was that he inchl bo executed, as he was wenrv of life. The Conservative party have elected their President and Vice President of the French Chambers, by a huge majority. The British Iron lre.de has sensibly improved in consequence of the passage of the new Ante rican tariff; a fact that will be gratifying to the American Iron trade, as it must tend greatly to relievo any excess of apprehension that may have been thoughtlessly nnd foolishly engendered. The Amerieun provision market is in a buoy ant state. Parliament had been prorogued on the 2Sth ult.

Her Britanic Majesty's ship of the line Ame rica had arrived with six millions of dollars in peeie, collected on tho West coast of Mexico, ind in Peru and Chili. From Cape of Good Hope, on the lSth of May, we learn that 10,000 Cadres, who had swarmed around Fort Feddie, were dispersed by artillery and rockets, leaving a large number of them on the Hold, dead. The liring hav ing frightened the cattle which were gathered beneath the walls of the fort for protection, they broke loose, and four or five thousand were captured by the Catlies. On the of June, a thousand Catlies were surprised by se veral parties of British, and defended them selves gallantly, but several hundred were gal loped over and cut down in retreat. The Queen of Spain is to marry her cousin, the Duke de Cadiz, the eldest son of the Puke of Montpensier.
