Grain and other concentrated feeds have increased in price so much that dairymen are trying to make some change in their cropping system so more green feeds may be used. men are beginning to'realize the value of the soiling crops as a source of comparatively cheap and satisfactory feed for heavy producing cows. These crops will be found of particular value In keeping down the cost of producing milk during the hot and dry period. Dairy farmers and experiment stations have been checking the results of soiling crops fed to dairy cows.

Among the leguminous crops that have been put to the test alfalfa has ranked at the top of the list. Dairymen find that after it is once well established in a good soil it will live a long time and produce high yields of palatable feed that contains a high percentage of ash and protein. Next to alfalfa come soy bean, sweet, alsike, and red clovers. Many are using the Canadian field pea. and occasionally the cowpea.

Amber Cane, sweet corn, and fox-tail millet are used as soilingcrops to some extent Amber cane seems to be the favorite with most dairymen. because it is succulent and cow i are fond of it. These- crops can be raised together to advantage. In localities where they are adaptable such mixtows of leguminous crops as cowpeas and corn, oats, and Canadian field peas, and cow-peas and cane may be raised. 14 r---- -717141'.

NEW Correspondence.1---The red line is certainly almost as well developed as the bread line. Look at the frocks of this spring and you will be surprised at the degree to which this color enters into every celebration.

Suits of navy, black, midnight blue, and tobacco brown have waistcoasts which are often of red. Navy serges and taffetas are trimmed with embroideries, stitching, ribbon, beads, and -ther much mort likely to have red as their predominating tint than any other color. Evening gowns are beaded frequently in this tropical shade. We illustrate the trend of the trimming times in the above Havana brown taffeta model embellished with raffia embroidery in Egyptian red. The ruffles at the sleeves as well as the guimpe and that new high collar which Madeleine Madeleine introduced last fall are white organdyt although a band of taffeta Is bound about the throat under the saucer-like ruffle.

Just as a peaceful ending comes into view somebody makes a. false move, and things are worse than before. If your heart is weak, don't see it. You could never stand the strain. However, there are some really wonderfur scenes under water, in which Houdini does superhuman work.

And we are told that it is the real thing. He is well supported by Lila Lee as the innocent victim of the plotters' schemes. She doesn't rely on especial beauty or stunning clothes to put her part across (during the greater part of the film she wears a Jackie eutrit). but on the accuracy and rapidity of her actions. And she makes dow, 'ood every time.
