John Mc-Duffie at Washington, to. the effect that the "House" of Representatives has passed the hill authorizing the erectionLof a bridge over the Tombigbee river at Moscow. This step in the enterprise is due to the activities of our congressman, who is as anxious as anybody to see the bridge" go There is little doubt but that- the senate Will also, pass the bill and, that the president will sign? it and that is a step toward the goal to which we are Another move in the right di rection, is the action of the bridge committee instructions of a meeting of those who signed notes several -years ago loojcing toward this enters prise. f-- iThe committee has; sent to every one signing those, notes, a call to pay them by March 1st, and, if they all pay, there is no doubt that the money raised will, with what is already on hand be amply sufficient, toi meet the requirements asked of Demopolis, to get the required aid from the government. It may mot be possible for all of those who signed to meet their notes, but the committee has fixed March 1st as the day they will be called upon to pay them, and then the committee will be in position to know what further steps to take.

If the notes are paid with anything like promptness and not too many of them fall down on their payments, there is no reason why the enterprise should not go right along to completion. This will not only a bridge over the river for us, but the expenditure of large amounts of money hT the De mopolis, business district, at a time when it is most needed The erection of bridge once begun, we may expect an -im petus to our business enterprises and industries that they have never known before. Besides this, there will be an inflow, of outside capital, people and en terprises that will several times over pay the community for the money that is expended. Here's hoping that all of the notes will be paid, and also that others who have not signed may be constrained to do so, to get the bridge over. Let's get over the river while we.
