Donald Nixon at her home Friday. The Valentine motif was cleverly carried out at two small bridge tables where a 1:30 luncheon was served by the hostess. The hours were spent in sewing. Those attending included Mrs. F.

Burns invited members of the Lucky Thirteen club to have luncheon at the Temple tea room Thursday. Contract was played at the Burns residence following the 1:30 menu with Mrs. C. F. Fowler and Mrs.

Fowler and Mrs. Cecil Sykes, and members, were Mrs. Walchli, Mrs. Baldwin, Mrs. Howard Hunt, Mrs.

G. Kelly. Sunday Supper Club. Entertaining for members of their Sunday Supper club, Mr. and Mrs.

Clifford Miller were pleasing hosts at their home this past week. At 5 o'clock supper was served buffet style and three bridge tables were prettily appointed where covers were placed for 12. Contract was the evening diversion with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Buckingham receiving the high prizes.

Mrs. Jewell Honored. Honoring her mother, Mrs. J. W.

Jewell, Mrs. F. H. Keller graciously entertained at a Kensington Friday at her home. The occasion was Mrs.

Jewell's birthday. Many friendss were present at this delightful gathering and at the close of the afternoon tea was served by the hostess. 1:30 o'Clock Luncheon. Mrs. Forrest Rockwood and Mrs.

Phillip Jordet were hostesses Friday at the home of the former when they gave a luncheon at 1:30 o'clock. Wedding Announced. Announcement has been made by Mr. and Mrs. L. N.

Boyd of the marriage of their daughter, Louise, to Lee Ray of Portland, Ore. The marriage took place at Vancouver, January 15, with Rev. Mr. Taylor, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Mrs.

Ray was graduated from the Flathead county high school with the class of 1937 and last year moved to Portland to enter school. The young couple will make their home in that city, where the groom is employed. Allen-Chapman. Miss Cora A. Allen was married to Clement R.

Chapman, both of Kalispell, Saturday at the Nazarene parsonage, with Rev. L. G. Nees reading, the Mrs. marriage Chapman vows.

M. Wohlwend when they invited a group of friends to their home Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Terry, Mr.

Cary Mahoney, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Conrad, Miss Gertrude Conrad and Francis Bitney were present to participate in games of contract.

At midnight the hostess served a dainty repast and in observance of Mr. Jensen's birthday a cake was served. Birthday Party. Miss Cecille Sykes, popular among Kalispell's younger set, was honored on her sixteenth birthday Tuesday, when her mother, Mrs. Cecil Sykes, gave a delightful formal dinner at her home.

At 6:30 dinner was served on small tables with the Valentine motif as the decorative scheme. Daffodils in gay profusion were placed about the rooms where games were enjoyed until a late hour. Miss Florence Robertson and Edith Carbonari were given favors at the close of the games and Mrs. Iona M. Dennis told fortunes as a feature of the evening.

Birthday Surprise. A birthday surprise party for F. R. Unde Monday evening was attended by Mr. and Mrs.

and Mrs. Glen Daley, Mr. and Mrs. George Parsons, Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. George Ward and son. Fred, spent Saturday in Kalispell. Joseph Zelezny returned Monday from Lonepine where he had spent several days.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tinsley of Deer Lodge were Sunday visitors at the Glen Daley home. Guy Clatterbuck motored to Missoula Monday. F.

R. Uhde motored to Lonepine Monday. Eugene Tiffany of Belton spent the week-end here. Abraham Flodeen has returned home from Coram. Miss Grace Beller of Kalispell was a week-end visitor with friends here.

Joe Duffield came from Elmo Saturday and spent Sunday at the home of his father, George Duffield. Mr. and Mrs. F. R.

Unde and daughter, Mary, and sons, Richard and James, and Betty Mae Zelezny attended a show in Kalispell Sunday. Otis Papendick spent Saturday in the upper Flathead valley. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Bain of Kalispell were Sunday guests at the Clarence Bain home.

Al Loveland of Lakeside was a caller Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Odle motored to Whitefish Saturday. Lee Derrickson of Polson spent the week-end at the Guy Clatterbuck home.

Amy Vinson of Big Arm spent week-end with her sister, Mrs. Glen Daley. Ladies' Night Is Conducted By Civic Body Columbia Falls, Feb. men and women, representing Columbia Falls, Whitefish and Kalispell, were seated at the banquet tables at the Cozy corner dance hall Tuesday evening enjoying the annual ladies' night program given by the Columbia Falls Commercial club. A feature of the program was a showing of motion pictures by Harry Campbell of Kalispell.

Both boys' and girls' sextettes the local high school presented three selections each to the enjoyment of all. Zeph LaVoy acted as toastmaster for the evening and introduced business men in attendance. Mayor Frank Schmidt led the speakers in a short talk about the proposed community hall for Columbia Falls. Superintendent of Schools Crowe gave a talk on the 'Status of the local schools. Mr.

La Voy introduced Dr. W. L. Kell and Clarence Barthmen, both local men as well as H. B.

Markus and Tom Dempsy of the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce and Walter Jefferson, superintendent at the CCC camp on the North Fork. These men gave short talks. Joe Laux, WPA recreational director of Northwestern Montana, told of the connection of his work with schools and churches and of the good derived from the recreational program. Don Treloar, owner and operator of radio station KGEZ at Kalispell, gave the principal talk of the evening, after which pictures were shown by Mr. Campbell.

Dancing was enjoyed by everyone after the speaking and singing program. Finland May Make Wolf-Hunt a Sport -Wolf hunting by airplane may become one of the attractions offered by Finland to foreign sportsmen. Because of damage caused among herds of reindeer by wolves in the Lapland districts of Sweden and Finland, it has been decided to employ airplanes to hunt the wolves which will be machine-gunned from the air. BOXING POPULAR. Baton Rouge, La.

-Boxing is becoming increasingly popular as a sport at Louisiana State university. In a recent intramural boxing tournament 623 students fought bouts. M. D. Rowland for a supper of chili and apple pie. Following supper the group played games at the Rowland home. Included in the outing were Mr.

and Mrs. J. A. Krall, Max Sturm, M. D.

Woods and J. A. Krall, members of birthday club were entertained Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. George Blackwell. A social afternoon was spent at games and handwork followed by a delightful luncheon served by the hostess.

Entertain Study Club. Miss Ruth Loucks assisted by Miss Virginia Eldredge entertained the 4-L Study club at the home of Mrs. Clay Parker Wednesday evening. The Jewish question in Germany was the topic of discussion for the meeting. A brief business meeting was conducted followed by refreshments.

Those attending were Mrs. H. W. Woods, Miss Vesta Knoke, Miss Mildred Buck, Mrs. Hal Hall, Mrs.

Bridge Club. The members of the Delta Deck Bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Harold Gompf Thursday evening. Three tables of contract were in play for the evening, score fabeing received by Mrs. Loren Gompf and Mrs.

Hugh Hennesses and the guest prize to Mrs. Leo Becker. Refreshments were served at a later hour. Mrs. Manion Hostess.

Mrs. Virgil Manion was hostess to the members of the Fortnightly Bridge club Thursday evening at her home. Contract was played, at which the score winners Mrs. A. M.

Hoffman and Mrs. Gordon Cornell. Mrs. Leslie Leigh received the guest prize. A delightful lunch was served at the conclusion of the play.

Silver Club. The members of the Silver club were entertained at a 7 o'clock supper at the home of Mrs. Ed Boyes on Wednesday evening. The evening was spent at contract bridge, high score prize beir.g received by Mrs. Edwin Kemp and second high by Mrs.

James Christle. Entertains Club. Mrs. Day entertained the club at her home Thursday afternoon, 10 members being present. The afternoon was spent at handwork, followed by a delightful lunch.

Wilson Is Observed Whitefish, Feb. Thomas Wilson, was honored by the members of 01 the St. Charles when Altar society Thursday afternoon they celebrated her eighty-second birthday at the Parish hall with an afternoon tea. A short musical program included numbers by Agnes Catherine Akey and Eugene Vedrine, Jr. Mrs.

Wilson was born in Dublin, Ireland, January 26, 1857, and came to United States after her marriage. thee She has a daughter, Mrs. Walter Towers, of Whitefish, and two sons, Joe Wilson, of Whitefish and Thomas Wilson, of Seattle. There are 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs.

Wilson enjoys fair health and has many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson reside in Five Acres members the St. Charles Catholic church.

Mrs. Powers Entertains. Mrs. W. J.

Powers entertained the members of the Monday Luncheon club the past week with 1:30 luncheon at the Reeves cafe and later at the home for contract games. Powers, D. Neville and Mrs. H. J.

Nichols were added guests. Scores were held by Mrs. J. L. Akley and Mrs.

F. S. McClench. Study Club Meets. The Fortnightly Study club met Wednesday with Mrs.

C. P. Daane. "The Coming Struggle for Latin America" by Carleton Beals was reviewed. The hostess served refreshments at the conclusion of the program.

With Mrs. Brennan. The Hoot Owls met Monday evening with Mrs. J. T.

Brennan for contract games with Mrs. Farrell Hollar as an added guest. Mrs. Hollar held high score, Mrs. Frank Sullivan, second high, and Mrs.

Everett Beirnes, traveling honors. An informal hour with light refreshments concluded the evening. New Deal Club. The New Deal club met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Clarke Forcum with Mrs.

Earl Hunt, Mrs. Claydon Dickson and Mrs. McLaughlin. Sleigh Ride Party. The Amica class members of the Presbyterian church entertained their husbands and escorts with a sleigh ride party and oyster supper last Tuesday evening with Mrs.

Manford Artz, Mrs. Robert Vining, Mrs. Chester Yale and Mrs. Everett Shafer as hostesses. Ping pong and Chinese checkers were the diversions in the church parlors following the ride.

About thirty people enjoyed the affair. Nurses' Club Meets. The recently -organized Nurses' club met last Friday evening with Mrs. Lonnie Dennis, with Dr. C.

G. Sundelius as guest speaker. She covered a variety of subjects of interest to the profession and held an informal forum at the close. A social hour was offered with refreshments served by the hostess. At Johnson Home.

Chapter P. E. was entertained Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. George H. Johnson with 18 members present.

Mrs. James Caughren presided over the business session which preceded the study topic given by Miss Eleanor Robbin. A delightful social hour was enjoyed while the hostess offered refreshments. Mrs. Lilly Entertains.

Mrs. P. C. Lilly entertained members of the Thursday club this week with a pretty Valentine party at Reeves' cafe for a 1:30 p. m.

luncheon bridge. Mrs. K. F. Kincaid was a substitute for an absent member.

Honors were held by Mrs. F. H. Frahm, Mrs. J.

D. Neville and Mrs. J. L. Akley at contract.

Mrs. Forcum Hostess. Mrs. Paul Forcum was hostess Thursday afternoon to the members of the EZ club at her home in the Krueger apartments, Mrs. Clarke Forcum substituting for a regular club member.

Valentine colors were used in the table appointments for the dessert course served at 1:30. games were won by Mrs. Contracts and Mrs. Clarke Forcum. Valentine Party.

Mrs. Alfred B. McLaughlin was the honor guest at a Valentine party Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. J. L.

Akey with Mrs. R. L. Bretthauer and Mrs. Leonard C.

Larson as assisting hostesses. The affair was a stork shower and games and contests were in keeping. A carriage full of gifts was placed before the honor guest opened the packages for the inspection of guests. A two-course supper menu was served after the shower. Arnold-Beardsley.

Mr. and Mrs. Mert Arnold have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Florence May Arnold, to Eugene Beardsley, which took place at an informal ceremony Sunday afternoon with Rev. C. P.

Daane officating. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Beardsley attended the couple who will make their home here. Banning-Straight.

Miss Margaret Banning and Herbert Straight, both of Whitefish, were united in marriage Sunday afternoon at the First Pyresbyterian church with Rev. C. P. Daane officiating. Miss Evelyn Krona and Fred Banning attended the couple.

Birthday Surprise. The sixth grade students surprised their teacher, Miss Tamman, on her birthday Monday with many gifts. Late in the afternoon a lunch was served. Breakfast Club Meeting. The second meeting of the Willing Workers' Breakfast club was held at the home of Allie Mae White, with Jean Meldrum assisting.

After the business meeting games were played and singing enjoyed. Breakfast was served to Elaine Boone, Harriet Borch, Elaine Fischer, Charlotte Buhl, Rena Mae Duncan, Meredith Brevig, Alice Rodvald, Manilla Fischer and Amy Jean Meldrum. The guests were Mrs. Merlin White and Verna Lou White. Afternoon Luncheon.

Mrs. Lola Cornellson entertained at an afternoon party for Mrs. T. B. Moore, Mrs.

Harry Wilder, Mrs. Margie Larson, Mrs. Gertrude Wall, Mrs. Frank Smith, Mrs. Roy Seal and Mrs.

C. H. Keeling. The afternoon spent visiting. A dainty lunch was served.

Tea for Mothers. Erma Stelter and Mrs. James Sonstelie were hostesses at a tea given for mothers of the junior high students Wednesday afternoon. The articles were given on child training. The mothers decided to have their meeting on the first Thursday of the month.

The Kensington club met at the home of Mrs. Art Stenswick Wednesday for an afternoon of sewing. Mrs. Ruth Hellen's birthday was honored. Valentines were used as table decorations.

Women's Club Has Meeting At Swan Lake Swan Lake, Feb. 4-The Swan Lake Women's club its first meeting at the home of Mrs. Frank Bosworth January 26. Lunch was served at 1:30 o'clock, after which a business meeting was held. It was first meeting of the voted, thaould be devoted to business and work, and the second meeting should be social.

British Firm Plans Housing Project San Gabriel, Cal -After considerable experience in mass production of homes in England. a British corporation has undertaken a big housing project near here to be known as San Gabriel village. It is planned to erect 840 homes and a community shopping center to sell at $3,666 to $4,225. All will be one -family dwellings and they will be put up about 50 at a time.

High School Students Are Given Party Eureka, Feb. school students and their guests had an enjoyable time in the county high school gymnasium Friday evening at the party given for them by the Senior and Junior Women's clubs of Eureka. Music for dancing was provided from 8 o'clock to 11, and all who enjoyed, playing games gathered at tables provided by the entertainment committee and enjoyed the newest popular games.

The dance was a "hard time" dance and favors were presented to Patsy Broderick and Roddy Sellers for the best "hard time" yo costume and to Esther Sellers and Bobby Hebison for the most original. Cider and doughnuts were served by the lunch committee composed of Miss Mary Zehntner and Miss Rosella Idso, Junior Women's club members, assisted by Doris Roberts, Esther Shenefelt, Jim Howell and Giveneth Ross, students. Other Women's club members were chairmen of the various committees with student assistants. More than one hundred young people and guests attended the January party. Past Matrons' Club.

Mrs. Frank Thomas was hostess to the Past Matrons' club at her home Friday evening. The evening was spent informally in conversation and cards. A short business meeting was by the newlyelected president, Mrs. Thomas, and the social program for the year was discussed.

A delicious lunch served by the hostess later in the evening was much enjoyed. Past matrons present with the hostess were Mesdames Merton Hunsinger, C. 0. Winkley, Ethel Long, George W. Day, Gale McKain and Matthew Griffiths.

Linen Shower. A linen shower was given members of the Methodist Ladies' Aid society honoring Mrs. Claude Huffman, formerly Annette Harvey, a recent bride, at a meeting at the church Thursday afternoon. A covered dish luncheon was served by the members and the gifts brought were packed and sent to Mrs. Huffman who was married a short time before Christmas and has gone to Mullan, Idaho, to make her home where Mr.

Huffman is employed. Mrs. Saling Hostess. On Monday and Saturday afternoons at 1:30 o'clock. Mrs.

Jay Saling was hostess at her home at two delightful bridge luncheons. After enjoying a prettily arranged luncheon contract bridge was played on both afternoons. On Monday, Mrs. Mable Betts was the recipient of a lovely high score favor and on Saturday afternoon when the women of the younger social group were entertained high score honor went to Mrs. Kenneth Christison.
