Glad you asked that Methodists vote on preachers Heart of camp Instruction is the heart of the Children's Diabetic. Camp sponsored by the Central Missouri Diabetic Association. Dr. Richard Guthrie, specialist in juvenile diabetes at the University of Missouri Medical Center, explains the importance of close control, personal care and self discipline to diabetic campers. Diabetic get rare chance for outdoor fun Diabetic children, who normally have only a few times each year when they can be without parental supervision for more than a few hours, now have a camp in the Mid-Missouri area which will give them the opportunity to meet with other children who have similar problems.

The heart of the summer camp, which is sponsored by the Central Missouri Diabetic Association, is instruction in personal care, treatment and control, according to Camp Director James Winkler, of Columbia. Winkler, who was.recently named to the position, has been a diabetic for 14 years and is currently majoring in parks and recreation at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The camp is open to diabetic children ages nine to 14 and is held at Camp Keown near Holts Summit beginning August 6 and running for two weeks. This is only the third year of operation for the camp and is the first year that'it has been sponsored by the Central Missouri Diabetic Association. The camp near Holts Summit is one of only three such camps, in Missouri at the present time, however, the Missouri State Diabetes Association has purchased an option on a 200 acre camp site near Morrison for a permanent facility.

Details on the camp and registration information may be obtained from Mrs. J. D. Wood Route 2, telephone a i i i a i Association is in its first year of operation with a presently located at Columbia, Rolla, Jefferson City, Sedalia, Mexico and a i a comprising a membership of 400 people. The goals of the organization are to promote lay education, physician education, diabetic detection, research and a diabetic children's camp such as the one at Camp Keown.

British clamping down on Bunker-type shows Members of the First United Methodist Church will vote today on granting local preacher's licenses to three young men. They are: Gary Greene, Lonnie Schneider, and Paul Waters. This is the first step required of one entering the Methodist ministry. Dr. Ross Fulton, pastor of the says he has had his previous congregations vote on more than a dozen young men for license to preach, but neveras many as three in one service! Dr.

Fuiion calls this experience an "almost a once in a lifetime experience" for members of his congregation. By HY GARDNER I heard that the very liberal British TV is starting to crack down on programs similar to our Archie Bunker type shows. Why? Patsy Laine, Long Beach, Cal. Because Britain's Race Relations Board doesn't think "that stuff is very funny" and warned certain programs to cut it out. Particularly "The Comedians." Making the Pakistanis, the Irish and the Jews the butt of their banter irritates the quasi-censorship agency.

Was the horse's blood-drenched head in the "Godfather" from a real horse? Miss Julie Turzo, Waterbury, Conn. Yes. "We attempted to use a taxidermist's head but it didn't look right," producer Al Ruddy's spokesman informs. "It seems that a race horse has an unusual configuration to his head and we were sure some moviegoer would spot that defect immediately. So we contacted the SPCA who located a race horse that was going to be put to sleep because of encephalitis.

We arranged to obtain its head shortly after it was dead. Matter of fact we have a commendation from the N. Y. SPCA on our handling of a very difficult and touchy scene." Is it true that Tiny Tim had his face lifted, a la Phyllis Diller? Imogene Welsh, Far Rockaway, N. Y.

No. The rumor probably started when Tiny recorded a new song titled "Am I Just Another Pretty Face?" Aren't Robert Wagner and Natalie)Wood planning tore-marry? --Mrs. Lansing, Mich. Parrying about marrying Natalie wouldn't say for sure. "We both have our plans and'we do believe in marriage," Bob ex and perhaps-future bride says.

"But we're just living life for each day we are together. It's exciting to sit and watch people watching us when we're out together." The couple recently crossed the Atlantic together aboard the Queen Elizabeth II for the opening of Wagner's latest film, "Madame Sin." They hope to make a movie together. "But," the actress sighs, "with our kind of realtionship we must approach the situation with taste and finesse." I understand the late J. Edgar Hoover's confidential secretary was among highest-paid employes of the FBI. What salary did she attain? And how old is she? Ellis Laramie, Wyo.

Confidentially, dandy 74-year-old Helen Gandy hit a peak of some $36,000 a year as executive secretary-aide to Director Hoover. All the "Gunsmoke" regulars showed at the "This Is Your Life" program honoring Ken (Festus) Curtis except James Arness. Why? Are they feuding? Mrs. Janet Poison, Cincinnati. "There is absolutely no feud between the two men," says Ralph Edwards.

"I am told they are highly respectful of each other's talent and friendship. It was simply impossible for Jim to be on the show. He was away when we did it and it just didn't seem to be a startling point if he couldn't make it. With so many letters regarding his absence, maybe we should have pressed a little harder. However, Festus understood completely." Richmond consolidation set back I a (AP)--The Richmond school board has changed its mind on pushing for consolidation by September of the city's mostly black schools with the overwhelmingly white schools in two suburban counties. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last week overturned a U.S.

District Court judge's decision ordering the merger of the three school systems to achieve racial balance. The board said Thursday that "there could be no orderly and effective implementation" of the merger by the fall, but reaffirmed its plan to appeal the Circuit Court's ruling to the Supreme Court. The school board said it decided any attempt to force merger by September would be inadvisable because of operational difficulties and because it "would not be in the best interest of the school children in the Richmond metropolitan area." The board earlier had said it would seek reversal of the appeal court's 5-1 decision in time for the consolidation to be carried out this fall.
