See story on page. i r- Casper man feared missing in Idaho reservoir By GWEN RICHARDS Star-Tribune staff writer CASPER With about a month to go in its fundraising campaign, the United Way of Natrona County already has pledges for more than 90 percent of its goal, according to 1986 campaign Chairman Peter Wold. "Everybody's put a lot of work into it, and the community has really responded well," Wold said. "I am very optimistic and pleased with the way the campaign's been going." The organization, which kicked off its annual drive Oct.

1, hopes to raise $540,000 this year to help fund 21 local charities. However, the minimum amount of money needed to fund the United Way agencies is $554,889, Wold said, adding that he hopes the campaign will exceed its goal. To make up the near $15,000 difference between the campaign goal and the minimum figure needed for its proposed allocations to local agencies, the United Way is prepared to draw upon its $27,000 reserve fund, Wold said. But contributions from some major companies that have not yet pledged any money may help the organization exceed the $540,000 goal and prevent it from dipping into the reserve fund. "There are still some big ones out there we're waiting to come in," Wold said.

"We're still expecting a wrap-up from Norwest Bank, which is a big one, Mini Mart, which is a big one," Union Oil and the "combined federal campaign." Campaign workers only just began soliciting money from local federal government employees, and those contributions should come in during the next six weeks, Wold said. "The federal government has a coordinated campaign for federal employees their kickoff date is Dec. 1," he said. "We don't try to solicit from federal employees until the combined federal campaign gets started." Last year's United Way campaign also set a goal of $540, 000 but exceeded it, raising $601 ,000. The 21 agencies supported by the United Way and their proposed allocations are: Red Cross, Head Start, Association for Retarded Citizens, Concerned Citizens, Self-Help Center, Catholic Social Services, Camp Fire Girls, Salvation Army, Youth CrisisHemry Home, Soul's Anchor Rescue Mission, Mercer House, Casper Day Care, Meals on Wheels, Boys' Club, Big BrothersBig Sisters, Girl Scouts, YMCA.
