Sunday, July 15, tHg SUNDAY NEWS AND TRIBUNE, JOTHCRSON CITY, MISSOURI Annual Tiplon Fair to Open Wednesday Night TIPTON (Special) The 16th annual Tipton Tri-County Fair will open Wednesday for a four-day run at the Tipton Fairgrounds. A hog and sheep show will highlight the first night of the fair and horse shows are scheduled on each of the last three nights. Other features of the event, sponsored by the Tipton Agricultural and Mechanical Society, include an art nail and midway carnival tttractions. 'Wednesday will be 'free night" with no gate charges except for admission of autos. Fair officers are: Herman Knipp, president; Nelson Stonner, vice president; Merlyn Hays, secretary; Phillip Stoecklein, treasurer: and Ed Miller, Frank Lang, P.

J. Knipp Hubert Muenks and Vincent Hecht, directors. Our Lady Circle, Daughters of Isabella, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a banquet in the school dining room. Among those attending were nine original members, Mrs. Joe Dueber, Miss Delphine Rosenhan, Miss Beatrice Schmidt, Mrs.

Lilly Schmidt, Mrs. Joe Koechner, Miss Georgia Schmidt, Mrs. Rose Faherty, Mrs. Anne Schmidt, Mrs. Lester Rosenhan.

Airman and Mrs. Dewey Carpenter are the parents of a son born at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Millington, Tenn. He has been named Scott Howard. Grandparents are-Mr.

and Mrs. Carl Wehmeir and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Carpenter, of Clarksburg. The annual sand green golf tournament will be held July 28-29 at the Tipton Golf and Country Club.

The tournament will include 27 holes of medal play in chamipon- ship, and flights. Recently elected officers of Tipton Council No. 1360, Knights of Columbus are: Arthur Knipp, grand knight; Wilbur Knipp, deputy grand knight; Harry Luebbering, chancelor: Connie Bestgen, treasurer; Elmer Miller, warden; Joe Schuster, inside guard: Jim Eichelbergerj outside guard: Michael Beck, recorder: Arnold Dueber, advocate; and Roger Fischer, trustee. The annual picnic of the Baxter Club win be held Aug. 5 at Proctor Park.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dix celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with an open house and reception at the American Legion xlHLi. They were married in Boonville in 1912. Dwtto Sam Loethen Dies At St.

Mary's Sam P. Loethen, 92, of 204 Walnut dieid Saturday at St. Hospital. He had been employed toy the State Departoent of Revenue motor vehicle registration division He was born Nov. 28, 18W.

in Osage County, son of the late Herman and Sarah Loethen. On June 6, 1921, ht was married to the former Grace Bohannan who survives. Other survivors are two sons Larry Loethen, of the home, am Sammy J. Loethen, Nashville two daughters, Mrs. Duane Wright and Mrs.

William C. Lister both of Jefferson City; three sisters, Mrs. Ray Hahn, Miss Ann Lpether, and Mrs. Rose Stieffer- man; four brothers, Casper, David and Adolph, all of Jefferson City and Frank, of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending arrival of out-of-town relatives. Mrs. Schroer, 72, Dies at Home Frances. Margaret Schroer 72, of 723 St: Mary's died at 8 a.m. Saturday at her home.

Mrs. Schroer was born Feb. 25 1890, to August and Elizabeth Fuchs Gerber. She was marriec Nov. 26, 1923 in Jefferson City, to Otto L.

Schroer. She was a member of Evangelical and Reform Church Survivors include a daughter, Iberene Schroer, Jefferson City; a son, Roy Schroer, U. S. Navy; a sister, Dora Stieferman, Jefferson City; two brothers, Augus' Gerber, St. Clair, and William Gerber, Chicago.

The body will lie in state from 2 p.m. Monday until the hour of services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at a local funeral home. The Rev. Elmer Koch will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Ceme tery. Wild Brahma Bull Finally Captured WILLIAMSBURG, Mo. (AP)--A wild Brahma has been returned 'to its owner's barn near Williamsburg after nearly two weeks of'freedom. The bull was roped Thursday by Carl.McCowan, 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.

Junior McCowan of Williamsburg, who was almost dragged from his horse by the bull. The boy's father got another rope on the animal and it took them, -with the help of others, three quarters of an hour to get it into a truck and secured with three, ropes. Albert and Credy Timmons Curtiss. He was married Nov. 7, 1906, to Pearl Margaret West, who survives. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Manes, of Eldon, and Mrs.

Jean Casey, of Iberia: three sons, Donald, of Eldon, William, of Houston, and Joseph, of Eldon; a sister, Mrs. Bess Laughlin, Haven, a brother, Allen Curtiss, of Linn; and four grandchildren. Mr. Curtiss was a retired railroad conductor and had lived in Eldon since 1918. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.

Joseph Wyatt in charge. Burial will be in Lane Cemetery. Thomas Workover Dies in California CALIFORNIA (Special)--Thomas Edward Workover, died Saturday afternoon at Latham Hospital here of a stroke. The California resident was born Russellville on Oct. 28.

1877, the son of August and Catherine Workover. He was married Aug. 30, 1900, to Emma T. Jones who died in June of 1947. Mr.

Workover was a member of the Cole Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Opal Rohrbach of California and Mrs. James Scott of Kansas City; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Huning of California, Mrs.

Mary Stone of Eldon, Mrs. Cora Lee of Quincy, and Mrs. Emma Dammeyer of Passadena, seven grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Village Destroyed TURIN, Italy (AP) Fire destroyed the Alpine village of Bousson northwest of here Saturday.
