But despite the fact that the weather was a little cool, some 485 swimmers turned out Monday In the first three days about 1,300 swimmers had taken a dip in the Park Board operated pool in the West end. The first day developed one wrinkle. Several pieces of wood became inbedded under a valve, and water was running out of the pool as fast as it could be pumped in.

But the trouble was located and by Tuesday morning the pool was in good condition. With the trouble eliminated, the water in the pool now is ideal for swimming. One new course will be added to the Memorial Pool program this summer. Skin diving classes will be held. And, of course, the Red Cross will again conduct its instruction program for youngsters beginning June 20.

The initial splash has been taken at the pool, but before the end of the summer the count of swimmers will run into the thousands.
