Joe Bell, president rf Count Farm Bureaj, arY Will at 8 clock in the evenlr The turnstone is tv. wanderers of ail shore bb 1 1 FFF I I SAURUS AP World Traveler LONDON. Dec. 22. I reported to you in yesterday's column that Prime Minister Attlee, Britain's new Socialist chief of state, had received me at Ten downing Street and that I had sized him as being an honest man.

Today I want to take you a step further in examining his character, since it is a matter of utmost Importance to the entire world. Don't forget it's Attlee who is the master chemist in this leftist politico-economic experiment which, if it should go wrong, would have a tremendous repercussion not only on England but on the rest of the globe. The difficulty, as I see it. Is that Chemist Attlee is experimenting with an untried mixture. And honesty won't prevent it from blowing up in his face.

However, the steady hand that comes from integrity of purpose certainly is vital. Thus it's extremely interesting to find that the prime minister is very religious. Indeed his whole approach to politics is said to have been religious. "She Wouldn't Say Yes" one of the most amusing films to come out of Hollywood this year, arrives on the screen at the America theater today for a four-day engagement. A stellar cast headed by Rosalind Russell, Lee Bowman, Adele Jergens, Charles Winninger and Sara Haden, present excellent performances in this fast-moving and unusual comedy.

There is a plot but it gets lost In the many amusing sequences. A cartoon and latest news events conclude the porgram. Opening Thursday at the America for the weekend showing at the America will be "Naughty Nineties," the latest Abbott and Costello nonsensical which revolves around a showboat and a trio of crooks. The and social work he drifted into politics. Thcv say he has small personal ambition but the Labor party thrust him ipto leadership.

His home Hie fits perfectly into this picture. Mr. and Mrs. Attlee are home folk. Thev like young people and they have four of their own.

Mrs. Attlee Is a housewife. She doesn't mix In politics and her only public activity is the Red Cross. At Ten Downing street, the At-tlees live wav up on the top floor where the housewife can take a hand at cooking. There you have the man who is trying to turn England into a place "fit for heroes to live in." Will he make his Socialist plan work? His opponents, and even some of his more conservative supporters, are mighty uneasv over this adventure into the unknown.

But I vet have to find anyone friend or political foe who doesn't believe in his integrity. Soldier Slapped By Patton Praises Late General crooks get away the showboat from the owner and his daughter and Abbott and Costello get into all sorts of complications in trying to get it back. Alan Curtis, Rita Johnson and Joe Sawyer are also featured plavers. A March of Time. Jasper Cartoon, Sports Parade, and News, makes up the sustaining program.

For the midnight show Saturday the management has booked "To Have and Have Not." with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Opening today at the Rialto a double program will feature "Don't Fence Me In," and "Twice Blessed." "Don't Fence Me In" is a latest Roy Rogers vehicle with plenty of musical interludes to add enjoyment to the western cinema. In addition to many Rogers' songs there are also several dancing numbers which go to make this a well balanced picture. "Twice Blessed" is an amusinsr Ve Specialize in CHILI 50c Qt. 25c Pt.

For the second part of the double program starting next Sunday will be "Two o'clock Courage." with Tom Conway and Ann Rutherford in the leading roles. ROSALIND RUSSELL IN COMEDY ROLE Rosalind Russell, recognized in screen circles as the ace portrayer or career women, is about to give another one of her vastly amusing and inimitable performances.

This time it is a brilliant and, of course, lovely-looking and smartly-attired psychiatrist in Columbia Pictures' new comedy, "She Wouldn't Say Yes," in which Lee Bowman will appear as her co-star at the America theater beginning on Sunday. Said to be one of her most hilarious roles to date, the racy, embracv story of "She Wouldn't Say Yes." tells of her attempt to cure a certain Spanish dancer, Allura (Adele Jergens, the Eyeful), of a complex about kissing men and in the process having to take a severe cure her-helf. Lee Bowman, plus his cartoon creation of the Nixie, an impish little fellow who quickly dissolves a person's inhibitions by his sarcastic remarks and changes wild dreams into wondrous reality, are the curers. Preview audiences report that it's all very gay and light and relaxing. Adele Jergens, as noted, once again has a glamorous and enticing role.

Remembered for her startling gowns and her general enchanting portrayal in the recent "A Thousand and One Nights," she is said to do some very adroit and alluring acting in her current film vehicle. MUSICAL WESTERN AT THE RIALTO Balanced to make the best in entertainment for all picture goers who like action, music, spectacular riding, and glamorous dance routines, is Republic's latest musical western, "Don't Fence Me In'" starring Roy Rogers, which will open today at the Rialto theater. The screenplay, directed by John English, concerns the efforts of a feminine photographer to uncover for her magazine, the trust about an asserted "bad man" of the old west.

She finds her story at a dude ranch operated by Rogers, and almost gets Hayes into jail before the identity of the real crook can be found. Rogers rides and sings with the carefree, casual charm which has brought him millions of fans of all ages. Hayes turns in one of his finest performances as the imaginative "bad man" and four of the west's classic ballads are sung by Miss Evans, Rogers and the Pioneers. "TWICE BLESSED" IS GAY COMEDY There's twice as much fun at the Rialto theater, where Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer's new comedy riot, "Twice Blessed." is now showing. Here is all-family entertainment that spells laughs from beginning to end.

And here's why: Lee and Lyn Wilde, the cuddle-some blonde twins who played opposite Mickey Rooney in "Andy Hardy's Blonde Trouble," this time portrav sisters trying to bring their divorced parents, played by Preston Foster and Gail Patrick, together again. Foster, an easy-going, happv-go-lucky newspaperman, has brought his daughter up in just that fashion: she's become a slick chick, a terrific dancer and throws slang around in the best "hepcat" fashion. Twin No. 2, on the other hand, is a sedate, bespectacled girl who has won national I.Q. contests and rates as one of the country's top whiz kids.

That's because Mom is herself a career woman, an authority on child psychology and education. When the girls decide to chance places, the fun really begins. Neither the parents, nor the girls' own bov tell them apart. When the slick chick is faced with a quiz contest and the "icky" kid finds herself In a jitterbug contest well, come and see for yourself! Marshall Thompson and Jimmv Lydon play the confused boy friends and turn in fine comedy performances. Foster and Miss Patrick, as the parents, are, as always, most dependable performers, and the cast includes Richard Gaines, Jean Porter and Gloria Hope.
