Cathy Undstrand's sixth graders at Big Cross are starting a similar program under the direction of teacher aide Regina Moore. working on creative and Interpretive reading projects which go beyond regular classroom experiences. The students choose a project after they read a library book.

Projects include book reports in the form of art, puppet plays, newspaper reporting on the book and Falls Area Obituaries The Queensbury Planning Board will vote on special permit tonignt requested by Karl and Rudy Paulsen for construction of the Robert Gardens North apartment complex on the north side of Weeks Road. The Paulsens wish to construct 200 apartment units across from their Robert Cardens South complex and have already won conceptual approval from the board, the county planning board and the town toning board of appeals. In other business, the board will take action on another special permit, two subdivision matters and two variance requests. Henry Heym of River Road In Corinth has requested a special permit for proposed construction at his Castaway Marina on Warner Bay In Lake George. Heym wishes to construct a boat workshop on the lake and a storage building 100 feet from the lake.

Heym has previously appeared before the board and requested a variance for the construction. Robert Ruggles and Norman Benack will appear before the board to request a subdivision of section four of the Land O' Pines lot off West Mountain Road. Ruggles and Benack wish to subdivide the lot. located north of Morgan Drive toward Peggy Ann Road, into 112 lots. Mike Brandt, president of West Mountian will appear with his wife Mary to request a land subdivision on West Mountain.

Brandt is Queensbury town supervisor. Representatives of Binley Florist will appear to request a variance which, if passed, will allow for the construction of an addition to the firm's Quaker Road flower shop. Binley Florist recently won approval from the board to build the shop on Quaker Road on the site of a vacant gas station, and has requested the addition for the front of the building. Herman and Antoinette Heber have requested a sign variance for their Quaker Road businesses. The Hebers wish to construct a free standing sign for the south side of the barn-type building and an additional sign for the face of the building.

Queensbury Building Inspector George Liapes said the building nouses four seperate enterprises, qualifying it for shopping center status. All matters also must be voted upon by the county planning board and the town zoning board of appeals before final approval is granted. man sentenced Some sixth graders from Big Cross Street School are beginning a creative reading program. On Tuesday, four sixth graders visited Stan Malecki's sixth grade class at Jackson Heights School to discuss ideas on creative reading projects. Malecki's class has been City Joseph Treceno, 19, of 18 Jay Glens Falls, has been sentenced to 45 days in the Warren County Jail and 2 years and 10 months on probation on his guilty plea to second-degree trespass.

Treceno originally had been charged with third-degree burglary after he and Christopher 21, of South Glens Falls were captured Dec. 23 by police inside Sullivan's Capitol Grill on Broad Street. Simione was sentenced Feb. 15 to 1 year in jail. Treceno also faces a charge in Queensbury Town Court of promoting prison contraband.

He was allegedly found in Warren County Jail with two white pills and two pink capsules Believed to contain dangerous drugs. That charge is scheduled for Monday night. In other cases in city court Tuesday: James Casperson, 32, of Glen-Rose Apartments on Glen Street, was given a conditional discharge on a charge of disorderly conduct. Addie Myers Oattrhaut SCHUYLERVILLE -Mrs. Addie Myers Osteroant. IS. of SchuylenrilW. died Monday (March Hospital after a short Illness.

Mrs. Otterhaut was born May 16, 1893. in Saratoga Springs, and had lived in Schuylerville for most of her life. She was the widow of Harry Myers. Mrs.

Osterhaut was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church of Schuylerville and the Parish Aid Society of the church. She was a 50-year member of Star of Hudson Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star (OES) of Schuylerville. Survivors include a son, the Rt. Rev.

C. Kilmer Myers of San Francisco, a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Marjorie) Heighton of Schuylerville; seven grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; a niece, and a nephew. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in St.

Stephen's Episcopal Church, Schuylerville. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville. Kerr, 81, of 65 Gray Greenwich, died Sunday (March 4, 1979) at the home of her son, Jamie H. Kerr Jr. of Kenilworth, 111. Mrs. Kerr was the widow of Jamie Kerr.

She was born April 12, 1897, in New York City, the daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth (Stuart) Burrow. A former resident of Bronxville, she had resided in Greenwich for 15 years and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the women's group of the church. Besides her son, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anne Law of New York City, and four grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Episcopal by the Rev. Joseph Caron, rector. Interment will be in Greenwich Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. The family has suggested that memorials mav be made in the form of contributions to St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Flynn Bros. Funeral Home, Greenwich.

Norn SCHUYLERVILLE -James B. Norris, formerly of Schuylerville, died Monday (March 5. 1979) in St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness. Mr.

Norris was a cabinetmaker for many years and was a member of the Saratoga Cabinetmakers Union. He was also a member of Home Lodge 398, Free and Accepted Masons of Schuylerville. Survivors include a son, James Norris of Bridgewater, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Nedra) Russell Jr. of Liverpool; a sister, Miss Gertrude Norris of North Broadalbin; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Man killed BUFFALO (AP) A Buffalo man died Tuesday when a garbage compactor he was fixing at the Ford Stampling Plant in the suburban town of Hamburg crushed him, police said. Workers at the plant found the body of Harry O. Dean, 32, wedged beneath the piston-like ram of the compactor, authorities said. Jonen Idris E. Jones, 77, of 225 Bay Glens Falls, died Monday (March 5. 1979) in Glens Falls Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Jones was born Nov.

5. 1901, in West Pawlet. the son of William C. and Margaret Jones. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons.

He had been employed for a number of years by the Glens Falls Insurance Co. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Priscilla Metzger of South Glens Falls, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, Quaker Road, by the Rev.

Funeral Notices League plans speakers The Glens Falls Area League of Women Voters is sponsoring speakers from the state Department of Transportation (DOT) who will explain the new signs planned for primary roads in the state. The meeting will be at noon Tuesday, March 27 in the Crandall Library auditorium in Glens Falls. The program also will cover the removal of billboard and roadside signs not in compliance with federal law. In the primary road sign system, all tourist oriented activities will be eligible for consideration.

On the interstate road systems, motorist information signs will be erected for businesses offering gas, food, lodging and camping services. In keeping 1 with the League of Women Voters policy of sharing information, we are inviting public officials and organizations who work with andor have an economic interest in highway identification.
