For lack of words to such absurdity, I can only respond by saying, "You must be kidding!" Obviously these people, whoever they are, have not seen Tom Curtis' sign on state Route 40 in the town of Argyle which' states, "No farmers, No food. No future." Apparently this is their ultimate goal.

SUE HARRINGTON Argyle Hillary Clinton had a turn in White House Editor; Your paper had a regarding voting Sen. Hillary Clinton for president. It is difficult to have an opinion when she is currently unopposed and the timing of this question just so happens to be when she is visiting our area. People are usually caring and feel upbeat when a political person visits the area. Mrs.

Clinton appears to be a nice person, but she certainly already had a chance to govern when her husband served for eight years. She was definitely the power behind the throne and had her say in many issues. She, without a doubt, was responsible for various appointments in the Clinton cabinet and for the appointment of many federal judges, etc. As far as Mrs. Clinton being patient and tolerant with her husband's misconduct, well, Mr.

Clinton did not start his womanizing adventures in the White House; he had his run of the roost in Arkansas, and she must have known of his misadventures as did many in Arkansas and certainly many of his staff while governor. For whatever reasons, she chose to turn her head or ignore entirely the situation which eventually brought a mess to the Oval Office ala Monica Lewinsky. Again, despite the misgivings of former President Clinton and her allowing him the indulgences, I would still consider her if she was more productive in the Senate and not just taking the party line and continually being on the bubble like so many others in Congress. I expected Mrs. Clinton to have done more for the state; like Schumer, they seem to always get the press on their sides.

I think I will pass on Hillary for the time being and give someone else a crack at the White House who has not been there (Condoleezza Rice, Rudolph Giuliani or John McCain). VINCENT M. MILANO Gansevoort Curmudgeon provides much-needed relief Editor: Mark Freeman may yet begin to understand why "we" who read the Curmudgeon to get a jolt of contrary indignation, call liberals "those who have not yet been mugged by the bureaucracy." Expensive bureaucrats who cannot wait to help us mind our own business do not always have the "public good" as a motive. He appears to see the tyranny of those unelected entities to lower the quality of life with the power of regulation. RICK CLELLAND Warrensburg MAYOR REGAN Continued from I'age A 1 Mulleteers" hockey jersey featuring a cartoonish image of Melrose with his trademark haircut.

"We're going to get the city firetrucks out to parade the players around when the Frostbite win it all," she said, adding she was trying to convince Regan to challenge the mayor of the playoff finalist opponent's hometown for some headline-grabbing antics. The mayor of this yet-undetermined city would strike a deal with Regan, Saunders said. "The loser would promise to push the winner up Glen Street in a wheelbarrow, and I know it's Bob Regan that's going to be taking a ride," she said. Saunders' husband, Richard, demonstrated the couple's confidence in a Frostbite series sweep by buying a block of tickets for the entire set of playoff games. The playoffs begin Friday night at the Civic Center against the Danbury TVashers.

Melrose, who was praised for stepping up and rescuing hockey in Glens Falls after the financial difficulties of the Adirondack IceHawks a year ago, said his team's fortunes were far brighter than its predecessor, particularly with the sellout crowd packing the Civic Center for Saturday's showdown with Elmira. "We've put a good team on the ice and people really responded," he said, adding the Frostbite were now physically and mentally prepared to win THOM RANDALL-THE POST STAR Adirondack Frostbite hockey players David Vychodil and Frank Bakrlik sign a team T-shirt for fan Hazel Leombruno of Queensbury at Monday's pre-playoff pep rally. Signing a T-shirt for a fan, Frostbite captain Hugo Belanger seconded the emotion.

"These guys are not only going to win the cup, they're going to bring it on again next year," he said.
