Mr. Carter, formerly of Fairfax county, but now of San Angela, was reelected Commonwealth's Attorney of that connty at the last election. The speech of Mr. Roxbury, of this city, at Manassas, on Saturday night, is spoken of by those who head it as one of the best delivered on that occasion, and Mr. R.

was warmly congratulated. Policeman Acton, of Washington, on Friday, arrested at the B. depot, in that city, John Adams, colored, charged with having on his person policy drawings from this city. He was locked up for a hearing to-morrow. The large eagle which has been caged at the wharf of tbo Washington ferry compa uy for some time past has been boxed up and will be sent to Richmond, wheie it will appear in the democratic procession which will take place there to morrow night.

At the last election the county of Rappahannock voted on a subscription for a railroad, which will run from Washington (the county seat) to Sperryville, and thence to some point on the V. M. R. R. They voted a subscription of $150,000.

The vote was almost unanimous. An old colored market woman named Cooper died suddenly Saturday night shortly after she had left her stand. She was taken sick on her way to her home on the southwestern outskirts of the city and sat down on the side of the road, where she was found, but died soon after being taken to her home. AND FLAGS.
