John Hetkert 78 Years Old. John Heckert a well known resi lent of our town, was 7s years old on April 24th.

Union. Lester Hetruk an employe of the Pennsylvania Railroad company at the wood preserving paint here, met with a serious accident Monday evening aliout 4 o'clock when he was caught tietween two drafts of cars through which he menipted to pass. There wer ten cars ahead and sixteen in the draft to the rear and be was caught between. The scalp was torn loose from the skull and it is thought that this was the only thing that area mm fnmi cieatn. He suffered a slight fracture of the skull and numerous bruises of the ldy.

Two fellow employes saw his plight ind helped remove him else he would have fallen and lieen ground under the wheels and possibly not found until the following morning as the cars were be left standing on the siding. Dr. W. J. Campbell, the company's physician, was summoned and he had he unfortunate young man removed to the J.

c. Blair Memorial hospital at Huntingdon. He is aged 22 years. was just recently married to Miss l.isie Taylor. The hospital physicians have hopes that he will recover, unless complications arise.

Base Ball Notes. All base ball players wishing to become members of the Presbyterian Sunday School Base Ball team, kindly hand their names to C. B. Oswalt, manager, at once. A meeting of all baseball players and those interested, of the Methodist Sunday School, will be held on Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock, for the purpose of organizing and electing officers.

Shelby Smith. Mr. David Shelby and Mrs. Alda A. Smith both of Braddock, were united in marriage on Saturday evening.

The bride is well known in Mount I nion. being a resident here for several years prior to going to Braddock. and returning al most annually on visits to relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs.

Shelby are at their own home on Center street. The Times joins their many friends in best wishes and congratulations. R. i. Faust Suffers Stroke.

R. J. Faust suffered another stroke this morning and so far as we can learn is in a very serious condition. Mr. Faust has been ill for several months from pneumonia and other complications.

He has had two light strokes hefore this one. He was stricken aliout 7 o'clock. The deceased wt the ei.lest child of Michael and Rosella Water Shearer and was bora in Shade Valley, la ter moving with ber parents neir Or- hiviiia. where she spent her girihood days, along with the sister and broth- who omjsed the Shearer family, to the entraixe of marriage ami jueath in the Shearer home, it was known over a wide area as one of the I jm-X cheerful, hospitable homes in that section. A home, youcg and old enjoyed visiting- Margaret was al- ways admired for her capability. Her i bands were ever ready, and ber heart willing to help in every need. Much of ber life was spent in nurir.g and 'caring for the invalided.

To these she ministered paJientiy and kindiy. I Afrer the death of her parents she i held her own home in Orbisonia for some years. She later engaged in nnrsing in Pittstiorgh and f'learfield. and it was while in the latter place. that she met Mr.

Fox. to wbon she united in marriage a little over three years ago. to whom she was a devoted companion and for whom she imade an ideal home. She was a true Christian woman, living daily as close- as possible to the great truths she I found in the open Word, which was het I guide, as was evidenced by the fact, that her Bible was found open close to her unconscious form when the hnsland reached her side Tuesday, after she was stricken-Daring ber short residence in Ohio. he had made many friends, who gave proof of the esteem which they held for her in the beautiful flowers which '-overed her casket upon its arrival here.

Friends from other parts paid her memory tribute, with the same silent messengers. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church, and i expressed shortly tfore her death hat she always received inspiration from attending the services of the I sanctuary, nd listening to the gospel in message and song. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Thief Cripples Plant. From Monday's Daily News. Huntingdon, Pa. A malicious thief entered the composing rooms of the Daily News some time between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning and stripped the battery of linotype machines of all the space bands.

This theft would have effectually "ied up the plant and prevented the lublishing of today's newspaper had it lot been for the courtesy of the Hun-ingdon Monitor and The Altoona Mirror. Both these newspapers took from their working stock sufficient space hands to enable the News to operate two linotype machines. The publisher of this newspaper acknowledges their splendid help with gratitude. Detwiler. wife of Harry Detwiler. died at the home on Jefferson Heights at 3 o'clock Friday morning, after a short illness of grippe, which culminated in pneumonia. Mrs. Detwiler was aged years, 6 months and 28 days.

A special meeting of the Sunday School Baseball League was held at the home of the president, W. M. Hnllenbaugh on Jefferson street, on Monday evening, with ten members of the league being present. Among the business of importance transacted was a schedule adopted for the season of The opening game will be played Jnne 13th between Methodists and Lutherans. AH games will be played in Victoria Field.

At the meeting the league purchased a beautiful silver, gold lined enp with pedestal, which will lie awarded to the Sunday school which the winning team represents. This trophy will be on display in a window of one of the leading business places in a few days.
