The Coyote Is Coming KIOT 'Radio," is coming soon to Northern New Mexico. Long-time Santa Fe radio owner Bill Simms and programmer Jack Kolkmeyer announce the conception of one of the most innovative radio stations in the country. Servicing Santa' Fe, Espanola and Los Alamos, 24-hours-a-day, this 25,000 watt station will be Santa Fe's closest and strongest radio signal. Owner Bill Simms, the man behind the original KLSK, a Santa Fe favorite for six years, says "KIOT will be even more committed to community service and more innovative for its listeners." Jack Kolkmeyer, KlOT's program director and now nationally famous for his program "The World," says "this is the station I have been waiting for all my life:" Also joining the team will be long-time KLSK advertising representative Mary Fahr serving as KlOT's sales director. The format will be what listeners want to hear.

Coyote Radio wants to know listener's choices of the greatest music on earth! They want listeners to select specific songs that The Coyote will play and also specific songs that should not be played. Call KIOT at 983-1111 and tell them your choices or mail a list to 418 Cerrillos Rd. Coyote Radio will be located in the Design Center, the old Las Tres Gentes Mall, and Sims is excited about this location. "It is close to the capitol, the piilse of the state; it is close to the plaza, the heart of the city," Sims says. "We want people to take part in this venture! Our full-view control room will allow for close interaction with listeners, especially during interviews of local personalities or with the many special visitors to the station." "We are creating a different kind of radio station," Kolkmeyer says, "one that is in step with our evolving world; one that respects not only listeners but the environment both locally and globally, We have selected KIOT as our call letters to associate us with "God's Dog," with the "Father of Song-Making" the coyote.

The coyote embodies the wild, free spirit that is the very soul and music of the world. The coyote is a trickster and a survivor; he is playful and yet he stands for the indomitable spirit that is all life. Respectfully, our logo is not going to be a howling coyote, rather we arc using a paw- print so that each individual can come up with their own idea of coyote. We are using the coyote as our symbol t'o honor the spirit of life, and in return we hope to spread this spirit as the best radio station you have ever heard KIOT, the Coyote."
