STORY OF MISSING PERSONS BUREAU PACKS GREAT PUNCH OMANCE, comedy and mclodranm are cleverly stirred together In "Bureau of Missing Persons" which opened last night at the Nile. The picture, a scene from which la shown above, Is based on authentic facts from the files of Captain John H. Ayres, head of New York City's bureau of missing persons. The story abounds In acting honors for such seasoned creators of character as Lewis Stone, who plays tho captain of the bureau; Pat O'Brien In the role of a fresh, self-satisfied "flatfoot," just transferred from the robbery squad; Hugh Herbert and Allen Jenkins as hard-boiled detectives In the bureau, who don't turn a hair at any of the tragedies that are a dally part of the bureau's routine. However, the real drama centers around tho mysterious and fascinating Bette Davis who turns the bureau upside down In an effort to find the man who can clear her of a murder charge.
