We are not protending to judge between tlie two parties, but the story as related to us by somo of the passengers, is as follows. The John Bull was hugging the shore, and could not possibly cive more room, with safety.

The Lady of the Lake, who descending with the current had tho whole river open to her, continued nevertheless lo keep the track by which the John Bull was ascending the stream, until it was too late to prevent collision. The consequence was that in crossing the bows of the latter boat, they came in rude contact, notwithstanding that the John Bull stopped her engine. It is not ofien that we have to record accidents among the steam boats on the St. Lawrence, and certainly lliey never ought to occur in such a a manner. Had the Captain of the John Bull kept way upon her, the result must have been the annihilation of the Lady and ihe loss of many lives.

From the experience I have had through the course of my practice in cuses of violent spasms and cramps in applying s-tenm to the relief of patients, (which lias iiejti-ly alwuys proved successful,) I am induced to believe that if the same remedy is pursued in a proper manner it cannot fail to be of gresit benefit in cases of Cholera. For six successive days he travelled upwards of seventeen hours each day, and the consequence was a fresh paralytic attack. In this state the worthy Baronet arrived at the St. James's Hotel, Jermyn street, where he was immediately attended by Sir Henry Halfurd and Dr. Holland, and by their advice was freely bled, which operation restored h'un in some degree to perception. Until he had been subjected to this treatment, he had no recollection of persons; and we understand that even now, of all his friends, Dr.

Holland is the only one whom he has recognised. His daughter Mrs. I.ockhart, is in assiduous attendance on her father; but he is unconscious that the hand which ministers with such tender solicitude to his minutest wants, is that of the child of his affection. What may be the precise nature of these apprehensions, which ihe Bank Directors have thought it their duty to communicate to the Government, we are not prepared to stale. 'I hey cannot, of course, have reference to the alteration in the value of Bank Stock, produced by the uncertainty which exists as to the recummendatioii upon which ttie Committee may decide, with respect to the renewal of the Charter of the Bank. Neither IheG-o-vernmeut nor the country have any sympaihy with tlie hopes and fears, the anxious dotihts anil confident expectations, of Iho Proprietors ot Bank Stock, interesting as these feelings may be to the parties concerned. From the occurrences of the last two or three days, we are inclined to believe, that tlie representations of the Bank Directors must relate to the state of the issues of Bank of Kngland notes. We understand that a considerable quantity ot Exchequer Bills have been sold by the Bank with a view of reducing the amount of Hank notes in circulation the only view with which such a measure could have been adopted.

The motive of this conduct is not very intelligible. Putting the most fovourahle construction on this movement of tho Bank Directors, we should imagine that they had r-xperieuccd a demand for eohl, which they believe to have 'jcen occasioned by the doubts which may exist in the public mind, as lu the probable termination of the inquiries of the Uank Committee.
