Six Drastically Reduced The most sensational cut In the Overland Six line has been made on the Overland Six Sedan DeLuxe on which the reduction is $120 from $1095 down to $U76. The price of the touring car has been cut $70 to a new low level of $825; the coupe has been cut $70 to a new level of $825; the two-door sedan, $100 to a new price of $835. These models are offered with two-wheel brake equipment, four wheel brakes being furnished at an additional cost of $60. The new prices on the Overland Si line bring all models below $1000 f.

o. factory. No changes have been made in the prices on the Willys-Knight models built by the same manufacturers. It has been known in the trade for some time that sale on all Overland models have exceeded the original factory specifications and that production has been steadily stepped up since the first of the year. It has also been known that Willys-Overland have set high aims as they relate to quantity output and that all manufacturing and sales plans have been laid with the idea ot keeping prices down to the lowest levels consistent with the prof itable operation of the company.

Competitive Market Indicated There is room for speculative interest in the hotly competitive field of light sixes with the new prices on the Overland Six especially so since this car reached second place in sales among all light sixes in the first year of its production. It is reported that Willys-Overland is endeavoring to accomplish a total sales volume of 100,000 cars, Overland and Willys-Knight included, between now and the end of the year. Such an attainment would place the total sales figures for the year over 85,000 in excess of the best previous year in the history of the organization. Similarly, the transmission may act as a sounding box amplifying engine noises, if the transmission shafts are in solid contact with the engine shaft. If the Jewett, the resilient steel springs absorb the minute vibrations between engine and transmission, so that the sountls are not transmitted and amplified in the gear case.

The Jewett clutch springs also act to absorb the minute vibrations between engine and drive, in either direction. Vibrations from the road, ordinarily transmitted thru the shaft to the engine, are intercepted in the cushioning springs, as are any slight vibrations from the engine itself. The new Jewetts are a distinct departure from the previous models, all bodies being noteworthy for the consistent use of curves, ball corners, rounded outlines and gracefully sweeping lines. A sensational cut in prices on all Overland models was announced this week, the cuts ranging from $40 on the Whippet Sedan to $120 on the Overland Six Sedan DeLuxe. Coming at the end of what has been the largest month in volume of sales ever known in Willys-Overland history, this price reduction is looked upon as an indication that Willys-Overland taking the position of passing all excess profits coming as a result of increased output on to the car buyer. Prices in the Whippet line are dropped in the new schedule from $735 on the sedan model to a new price of $695; from $735 on the coupe model to $685.
