He has not yet signed him, but will, no doubt, in the next few days.

Meanwhile it appears that the loss of Knepper was not such a severe one after fill. The Indianapolis News says: "The Cleveland club has secured Pitcher Knepper from Indianapolis. What Man- agci Cross has in view remains to be seen. Knepper is not in form foi West- em league company, and if he lasts in the big league it will be a surprise to those I seen him pitch 1 Tlie same paper says: "Babb has been Piano Hunting would be harder than it 'is if there were more good kinds of pianos than there are. You need spend rime considering the good kinds only.

Of all good kinds there is one' best. There is one that combines die greatest number of essential improvements with an inconsistently moderate price-inconsistent because it is so low for a piano so good. The Packard Piano is a thor- good, sweet toned durable piano-in an artistic case at a moderate price. Babb may be a fast man in this league, but the Fort Wayne club don't need him so. badly to take such a proposition as that named above. President Mautner says there is nothing in it.

A cash price was offered for Babb and Kneppei. Indianapolis could not deliver the goods and, tlie deal is off. Clubs. Won.Lost. P.C.
