PolicE Burgundy Circle, Boiling Springs, was slowing to turn south on Petersburg Road when his vehicle was struck. Murphy lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole.n. Doyle, 17, of the 100 block of Third Street, Boiling Springs, was eastbound on Route 174 when he approached a "slight left curve" about 8 p.m. Doyle apparently lost control of his vehicle and went into slide. The passenger side of the vehicle then struck a utility pole on the north berm of the roadway about 100 yards east of Lerew Road. Doyle and his brother, Brian, 16, same address, were pinned inside the vehicle until emergency personnel freed them. Michael Doyle's Ford Mustang was demolished.

Both were wearing seatbelts. Liggett Agency, Inc. 169 West High Street Carlisle, PA 249-2727 Dr. John J. Snyder, 75, of 2801 Deny Harrisburg, died Saturday in Harrisburg Hospital. He was born June 26, 1914, in Middlesex Township, a son of the late Elmer E.

and Bertha Hartman Snyder. He was a family physician in Steelton and Harrisburg for more than 43 years and a former staff physician for Bethlehem Steel Corp. Last year, he received a testimonial from the Pennsylvania Medical Society for 50 years of service. He was a graduate of Carlisle High School and a 1935 graduate of Dickinson College. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

He was a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and received the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association in 1971. He was former Clair W. Clair W. Wise, 72, of 415 N. East Carlisle, died Sunday in Carlisle Hospital.

He was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Monroe Township, a son of the late William F. and Katherine M. Wise Wise. He was a retired employee of the Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co.

He was a member of the Eagles and White Circle Lodges, a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 477, a social member of the American Legion Post 101, all of Carlisle, and a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Boiling Springs. Surviving are two brothers, Harold A. of ML Holly Springs, and John P. Michael Michael M.

Ruane, 84, of 1868 Douglas Drive, Carlisle, formerly of Philadelphia, died Friday in Carlisle Hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1905, in Ireland, a son of the late Bernard and Mary Ann Kenny Ruane. He was a retired employee of the Exide Battery Co. of Philadelphia.

He was a member of the St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church of Philadelphia. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. Surviving are his wife, Mary Duffy Ruane; one daughter, Maureen O'Connell of Carlisle; two Hattie B. Hattie B.

Mumper, 85, of Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, formerly of Carlisle, died Sunday in the home. She was born Sept. 7, 1904, in Landisburg, Perry County, a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Crull Garlin. She was the widow of Frank L. Mumper.

She was a former employee of Maslands. She was a member of the First Church of God, Carlisle. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Betty Bentzel of Carlisle, and Mrs. June June A.

Still, 73, formerly of 507 Huntington Enola, died Friday in Leader Nursing Home, Carlisle. She was born May 7, 1917, a daughter of the late Beryl and Bertha Nebinger Yohe. She was the widow of Richard Still. Surviving are her son, Harry Still of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Charles Yohe of Ml Dora, and Donald Yohe of New Cumberland; one sister, Ruth Lang of Oberlin; two grandsons; and a niece Joann Barder, with whom she lived. Carlisle police reports say Melanie Taylor, 14, of the 200 block of West Street was reported missing after she was last seen about 7 a.m. Thursday by her mother, Imelda N. Stevison, same address. Ms. Stevison told police Saturday her daughter returned safely.

One injured in collision A two-car accident Friday night in South Middleton Township left one person injured. Admitted Sunday to Carlisle Hospital: Middlesex police nab two men Two Harrisburg men were arrested by Middlesex Township police Sunday morning on numerous charges. Police reports say an officer was doing a "business check" at the U-Haul rental center on the Harrisburg Pike about 10:15 a.m. when he noticed a suspicious vehicle parked near a fence. As the officer approached the vehicle, it fled north on Route 11. The officer pursued the vehicle and attempted to stop it but the vehicle sped up instead.

It ran a redlight and continued north, entering 1-8 1 northbound. Eventually the officer was able to stop the vehicle at exit 18. Inside, the officer discovered several radios allegedly taken from vehicles at Varsity Volkswagen on the Harrisburg Pike. Douglas K. Cuff, 27, 1200 block of South Oyler Road, Harrisburg, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, recklessly endangering another person, conspiracy to commit theft, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and numerous traffic violations.

He was remanded to Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. Barry D. Camaron, 22, 1100 block of South 13th Street, Harrisburg, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, defiant trespass, criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit theft. AVOIDING Although it is more common for the beieaved to suffer depression and alienation, to close themselves off from life and the world around them, the opposite behavior can be manifest. Some people try to speed up the mourning process unnaturally or attempt to avoid it through escapist pursuits. Grief runs its own peculiar cycles. Because this process is a slow one, some people become impatient and try to return to normalcy as quickly as possible, picking up where they left off with friends, relatives, lovers, and business associates. GRIEF mindless amusements. None of these diversions make a loss hurt less, not in the long run, and a person who indulges in them too liberally may end up feeling guilty in the bargain. It is better not to rusn grief or to suppress it. It does not work anyway. One can feel sadness even through a stupor; so let the feelings dissipate at their own speed.
