STERNERS FETED ON 25TH ANNIVERSARY JoAnn Koppenhaver, one of Schuylkill Haven's young homemakers, has given us her recipe for Buttermilk Cookies. This recipe, in her family for a good many years, is great as a breakfast cookie or an after-school snack for the youngsters.

The recipe is also a good one to keep in mind for the fast-approaching holidays. This week's guest cook is a native of Schuylkill Haven, the daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Berkley and the late Robert H. Dohner. She is married to Robert Lee Koppenhaver, formerly of Tremont.

They have lived in Schuylkill Haven since their marriage in 1968 and are members of St. John's United Church of Christ. Prior to her marriage JoAnn was employed at Bashore Knitting Mills. Her hobbies include crocheting, candle collecting, cooking, and baking. However, now she is usually kept busy caring for her home and children, Kimberly, 5, who has just entered first grade, and Jason, who is nine months old.

This past year has been especially busy for JoAnn since her husband is NCO in charge of recruiting for Co. B(-), 228th Supply and Transport Battalion, Pine Grove. JoAnn does most of the typing and paper work for her husband. Recently he was promoted to staff sergeant in this unit. He is also employed by Fox-Knapp Mfg.

baking powder Vz tsp. salt 4V2 cups flour Cream sugar and margarine. Add eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla.

Drop by tsp. on to greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees until golden brown. This is a soft cookie. A good idea for storing them in your cookie jar or container, is to separate each layer of cookies with waxed paper so they don't stick together. Clyde Aderhold.
