Elmira's Pioneers made it four straight over the local club when they trip- i ped the Braves 7-2 last night at Tullar i In the four-game series with Elmira, Harry Minor's team has been out-scored' 44-4'. At one stretch Well.jville went 21 innings without a run crossing the plate. Paul Brown turned the trick for the Pioneers with a seven Brown struck out three and walked five as he evened his record at G-G. Tom Newton suffered another poor start and then pitched brilliantly.

Elmira hopped on him for Hve runs fn the first three frames, but the strong left handcr settles down to retire 11 consecutive batters during the middle innings. The visitors wasted little time i in the scoring department as they tallied three times in the first aft-: er two were down. Ralph Maru started the move with a single to left, and' sent to third on Hank Allen's bingle to center. Allen moved to second on the play. Bob Boyer followed with a two' run single, and when 1'ie ball roll- ed between left fielder Paul Sny-1 der's legs, Boyer raced to third.

Paul Price tapped a grounder to first baseman Frank Saia, Newton dropped liis throw and Boyer scored. Two runs in-the third upped the' margin to 5-0. Hank Allen a out an infield, hit, and Price lofted a u'rive over the wall in field for a two run homer. Wellsville picked up a single tally in Us half of the frame. With two down Demetri Alomar singled, Frank Saia walked, and George singled to center to score Alomar.

Ted Williams Retains 'Hex' Over Banning By JOE REICHLER Associated Press Sports Writer NEW YORK 29th of July was just another day in tho season to the average major leaguer tout to slugger Ted Williams and pitcher Jim Bunning it was sort of an anniversary. It was on July 29, 1955 that Williams mot Bunning tho first Bunning, a rookie only in his second week with the Detroit Tigers, was slated to pitch against Boston Red Sox in Fenway Park: A long-time Williams from a before tho game, sought an introduction to the great slugger. Less than, an hour alter their friendly chat, Tecl -toed off on a Bunning fast ball and hammered it into the right Held bleachers for a home run. Three years later on July 29, the Tigers and Red Sox were at it again. Bunning was the pitcher and the bases were loaded with Red Sox in the third inning.

Williams smashed his 17th grand slam homer, equalling Babe Rirth's total. Ted finished with two home runs and seven runs batted in. July 20, 1960 Friday night. Williams faced Bunning in the third inning of a scoreless game with runners on first and third and two out. This time Ted bashed single to score Don Buddin with the only run of the game in Boston's 1-0 victory.

Bolivar Dumps Citizens In Tullar Field Action Bolivar dumped Citizens, 10-5, in Babe Ruth League action Thursday afternoon in a game played at Tuller Field. Citizens took a 4-2 lead by the end of the second frame before the Bolivar group let go with a double two-run blast in the third and fourth frames. Another four run rout sent the winners higher. Citizens capped the contest, with a lone tally in the final frame. Catcher Green whipped two doubles iir the Bolivar squad along with teammate Ford had three hits, including a double in four attempts.
