Potts, prominent local chief of police has been notified of his election to the executive board of the Western Pennsylvania Chief of Police Association.

C. J. Gerbart of Pittsburgh, secretary of the association, in a letter to Chief Potts, stated that the election was held during the Dec. 15 meeting of the organiza tion held in Swissvale. Chief Potts also was requested to be present at the meeting of the association's executive board, to be held Jan.

17 in Pittsburgh. Mollie V. Bickel, former resident of Riverside Drive, RD 2, who died Saturday in Buffalo. The services were held in the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home. Dr.

Elizabeth A. Vought OIL CITY Mrs. Elizabeth Aiken 87, of 59 N. Main Albion, widow of James Henry Vought, died at 1:20 p. m.

Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lee Mong of Pin-oak, Oil City NSSR. Mrs. Vought was born Dec. 24, 1873, in Penn Township, Verona, a daughter of Joseph and Nancy Cathcart Aiken.

She was a member of St. Thomas Memorial Episcopal Church in Oakmont. Her husband died Jan. 9, 1940. In addition to her daughter, Mrs.

Mong, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Leslie Ein-hiple of Cranesville and Mrs. Ruth Burr of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home.

Removal will be made Thursday morning to the Summers Funeral Home in Albion where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Dr. Thomas L. Small, rector of Christ Episcopal Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in the East Springfield Cemetery in East Springfield. Miss Mabel Morris OIL CITY Funeral services were iheld at 3 p. m. Tuesday in the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home for Miss Mabel Morris, 78, of 201 W.

Kifer. MARION, Ind. Robert Leroy Kifer, 32, of 1216 National Marion, husband of the former Helen Lutz of Oil City, died STARTS TODAY Jerry Lewis BRINGS HARRISBURG Oil City Area School District is receiving $44, 596.18 from state funds to help pay costs of structural changes at three of the district schools to comply with fire hazard regula tions. Schools for which state grants were approved are Lincoln school, Hasson Heights school, $5,187.63 and Rouseville school, $10,968.08. Payments in each case were based on estimated cost of mak ing changes ordered by the State Department of Labor and Industry to eliminate fire hazards at the school buildings $56,021.00 for Lincoln school; $10,218.40 for Hasson Heights school and $21 604.52 for Rouseville school.

Grants from state funds for this purpose can be made only with approval of the State Council of Education, Department of Public Instruction and Department of La bor and Industry. Orders to eliminate fire hazards from school buildings were issu ed on a state wide basis by the Department of Labor and Industry in its drive conducted jointly with the Department of Public Instruction for compliance with fire hazard regulations. Since the 1959 Legislature decreed payment of state grants from the state school fund to help cover costs of eliminating fire ha zards from public schools, a total of $3,995,070.56 has been paid to 455 projects for this purpose. The Council of Education, which administers the state school fund, said yesterday, that grants have reached the sum previously auth orized by the council and that pay ments have now been discontinued. at 1:45 p.m.

Monday in Marion. Born in Brockway, March 25, 1928, he was the son of Ralph H. and Freda Weissenfluh Kifer. He graduated from the Wilcox High School in 1946 and Clarion State College in 1952. He was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Marion and served in the Army with the Occupation Troops in Japan following World War II.

He and his wife lived in Lancaster prior to moving to Marion in 1954. Surviving besides his widow are three children, Kerry, Kathy Ann and Karen, all at home; his parents; one brother, Ralph H. Kifer Jr. of Kane; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Betty) Thompson of St.

Marys and Mrs. John (Edith) Adams of Johnsonburg. Friends will be received in the Ubel Funeral Home at Johnsonburg today and Thursday where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Rev.

Paul Alexander of Johnsonburg will officiate at the service. Interment will be made in the Ott Cemetery at Ridgway. PTO Members Plan Bake Sale Plans for a bake sale on Fri day, Jan. 20, were announced Tuesday evening at the meeting of St. Joseph's Parent-Teacher Organization.

The event will be held at the Super Value Market beginning at 1 p. m. Mrs. Walter Fedorek is serving as chairman. Those un able to deliver baked goods to the store are asked to leave them at the school between 6:30 and 30 p.

m. on Thursday, Jan. 19. Announcement was also made of a tureen dinner planned by the PTO at 6:30 p. m.

Tuesday, Feb, 14. Routine reports were given by Jack Welsh, treasurer; John Fyda, bus chairman; and Mrs, Rose Kenzior, membership chairman. Refreshments were served by the fourth grade mothers under the co-chairmanship of Mrs. William Camp and Mrs. William Brown.

Democratic Women's Club Holds Meeting Mrs. Norma Campbell, outgoing president, introduced new officers Monday evening at the meeting of the Venango County Democratic Women's Club held in the Franklin Eagles Club. New officers of the group are Mrs. Gladys Prichard, president; Mrs. Leola Whitman, first vice president; Mrs.

Esther Fox, second vice president; Mrs. Anita Ghering, secretary; and Mrs. Florence Barnes, treasurer. Mrs. Jeanne Straub was appointed publicity chairman and Mrs.

Austie Hoffman was awarded the door prize. Entertainment at the February meeting will be in charge of Mrs. Fox and members of Franklin Group 2 will serve as hostesses. Reno Couple to Have Anniversary Monday Mr. and Mrs.

W. L. Snyder of Reno will observe the 49th wed ding anniversary on Monday, Jan. 16. No special celebration has been planned.

Homer James was named second vice president and Mrs William Corrin, assistant treasurer, Tuesday morning at the meeting of the board of directors of the Oil City Visiting Nurses Association held in the Belles Lettres Club. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Benjamin McFate, president. Miss Mary McMahon, visiting nurse, gave her annual report an nouncing she had made a total of 2,890 calls from November 1959 to November .1960. She also re ported she had visited 213 pat ients in November and 208 in De cember.

Dr. Nicholas Pozza will be guest speaker using as his subject Presents BRONZETONE BEAUTY Driver Pleads Innocent Area Man Charged With Hit and Run OIL CITY Lowell John Thomas, '24 of Grand Valley, RD 1, pleaded innocent to a drunken driving charge at arraignment yesterday before Titusville Alderman N. Allen Love.

One of the accidents he is charged with involved a mishap on Colbert Ave. this week. The alderman set ball at $1,000 in lieu of Thomas was tak en last night to the Crawford County Jail at Meadville to await a hearing scheduled fof 4 p. m. Friday at Alderman Love's office.

Thomas was apprehended by Titusville police Monday evening in the Selkirk district after a highspeed chase from Titusville by way of Pleasant ville. Thomas is on a two year parole from the Western State Penitentiary for a crime committed last year in Warren County. City police also filed charges of speeding and failure to stop at the signal of an officer against Thomas. Thomas was involved in two hit run auto accidents less than an hour before Titusville police spotted his greea panel truck in the city and started after him. The Thomas collided with a car being operated by E.

L. Croft of Oil City about 5:15 p. m. Monday on Colbert Avenue in Oil City. About 20 minutes later, his northbound truck sideswiped a rar traveling south on Route a at Cherrytree.

The car was owned and operated by James Rodgers of Canfield, Ohio, a drug sales man and former Ohio highway pa trolman. State Police at Franklin said the Ohio man declined to prefer a hit run charge against Thomas, but State Police will file a reckless driving charge against him. He also may be charged wifh misuse of registration plates. In addition to a possible hit-run charge in Venango County, Thomas also faces a charge of parole violation in Warren County. R.

Buckley, 78, Succumbs OIL CITY. Richard (Dick) Buckley, age 78, well-known res ident of Halyday Run Road, died suddenly at 6:30 a. m. today in the Oil City Hospital. He was born August 23, 1882, in Oil City, son of Thomas and Emma Swartzwood Buckley.

He was educated in the Oil City schools and resided here all his life. Mr. Buckley was a carpenter by trade, retiring from Oil Well Supply in 1947. He was married to the former Sara J. Cassidy, July, 1935, who survives.

Mr. Buckley was a member of Trinity Methodist Church; also a member of the Odd Fellows in Oil City for over 50 years. ttesiaes his wile, Mr. Buckley is survived by one sister. Mrs.

John Fiely, Pleasantville, and several nieces and nephews. friends may call at the Hutchinson and Morton Funeral Home after 4:30 p. m. today. Funeral arrangements will be announced.

Blanche Shingledecker, 65, of 801 E. 2nd who died at 12:30 a. m. Tuesday in the Oil City Hospital. The Rev.

O. A. Womer, pastor of Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Mrs.

Shingledecker is survived by a brother-in-law, E. C. Gibson, with whom she made her home, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call any time at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home.

Ora (Dorothy) Shattenberg, died in 1953. Friends may call any time at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home. Members of Ella Rebekah Lodge will conduct a service at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Armstrong-Collier WESTERN UNION OIL CITY The two local banks The First Seneca Bank and Trust Co. and Oil City National Bank held annual meetings yesterday at which time officers and directors were named by the former institution and directors of the latter were elected. The Oil City National will hold its reorganization meeting next Tuesday. During the meeting of the First Seneca Bank, two new directors were named and an assistant vice president was appointed, by the board.

Directors of the Oil City National Bank announced during the meeting yesterday afternoon that the banking firm experienced its best earnings year in 1960. Net earnings after taxes amounted to approximately $9.40 a share on the 33,250 shares outstanding. First Seneca elected M. M. Mc-Clure president of the Farmers and Merchants Trust Co.

of Greenville and J. G. Montgomery Jr. of 410 Moran president of UNG Co. as members of the board.
