Real thing follows college dorm drill Arthur D. Piatt, 81, of 644 Yorkshire Drive, Carlisle, died Saturday at the Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle. Born July 14, 1907 in Luzon, Philippines, he was the Son of the late Benjamin M. and Elizabeth Boardman Piatt.

In 1962, he served as executive assistant to the president and assistant secretary of the board of trustees at Dickinson College until retirement in 1975. He. was a 1924 graduate of Mt. Hermon School in Mt. Hermon, where he served as a mathematics teacher, dean of students, director of studies, college counselor and assistant headmaster.

He was a 1928 graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, and received his master's degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1935. He did graduate work in educational administration at Harvard Graduate School of Education and later became executive assistant to the president of Northfield School in East Marie Mane Kenee Fry, infant daughter of Harvey R. and Patti Bleacher Fry of 258 Red Tank Road, South Middleton Township, died Friday at Carlisle Hospital. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.

Gilbert K. Fry of Newport and Mrs. and Mrs. Lloyd Bleacher Walter R. Walter R.

Sowers II, 67, of 472 Wolfe Bridge Road, Middlesex Township, died Saturday in the Carlisle Hospital. He was born July 30, 1921 in Philadelphia to the late Howard W. and Aleta M. Leidigh Sowers and lived most of his life in Carlisle. A graduate of Boiling Springs High School, he was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, and was retired from Ships Parts Control Center in Hampden Township with 38 years of service.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. John's Lodge 260 both of Carlisle, and American Legion Post 109 in Mech-anicsburg. Surviving are his wife, Thelma E. Potteiger Sowers; a son, Walter R.

Esther W. Esther W. Dunbar, 83, formerly of North Pitt Carlisle, died Sunday in Cumberland County Nursing Home. Born Feb. 14, 1905 in Lower Frankford Township to the late George C.

and Ida Fry Weigel, she was the widow of John A. Dunbar. She was retired from Kinney Shoe Company in Carlisle and a member of Evangelical Christian Church in Carlisle. Surviving are two sons, John L. Dunbar and Parker E.

Dunbar, both of Carlisle; three daughters, Shirley D. Cornman of RD3 Newville, Northfield, and assistant treasurer and clerk of the board of trustees. He was active in community affairs in Massachusetts and Carlisle as a member of Kiwanis, United Way, YMCA and Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Palmer Duncan Piatt; two daughters, Elizabeth P. White of Stratford, and Marjorie P.

Skoglund of Litchfield, a stepson, Robert P. Duncan of Emigsville; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover Carlisle, with the Rev.

Neal Bachman officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, N. Middleton Township. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Cumberland County Unit, 117 N.

Police reports say the bodies of Richard L. Peterman 40, and Edith Zimmerman, both of Dun-cannon were discovered Saturday about 4 p.m. The bodies were found in a residence just outside the borough near the intersection Lincoln and Jefferson streets.

Both died of gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene by Perry County Coroner Michael Shalonis. State police declined to give any other details; the investigation is continuing. Head-on collision kills one, injures two One man died and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Adams County Saturday afternoon. State police in Gettysburg say Jung Shin, 29, 6307 Saddle Tree Road, Alexandria, died from injuries he suffered in the accident about 5: 15 p.m.

Kunsoo Shin, 41, same address, and his passenger, Jung Shin, were southbound on Route 15 in Mt. Joy Township when they collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Noah Julius, 22, RD2 Dover. Julius was taken to Gettysburg Hospital where he was admitted in satisfactory condition, hospital sources say. Kunsoo Shin was taken to York Hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit in serious condition, hospital sources say. N.

Pennebaker was cited and released. Police investigate train shooting State police in Carlisle are investigating a Sunday night shooting in South Middleton Township.

Police reports say someone drove a car onto a railroad crossing on Red Tank Road about 9:45 p.m. The person stopped the car and then fired a weapon at an oncoming eastDouna uonrau train. The bullet struck and shattered a front window made of thick safety glass. Howewver, it failed to penetrate the glass and an engineer and brakeman inside were not injured. Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact state police in Carlisle at 249-2121.

and Marion Rhoads Weigle. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Bel Air, Md. where she was a member of the choir and served as an adult youth counselor. She graduated from Carlisle Senior High School in 1944.

Surviving are her husband, Robert G. Hippensteel; two daughters, Sandra Tomlinson of Catonsville, Gladys Hill Gladys L. Hill Cornelius, 78, of Piney Mountain Home and formerly oi 224 Lurgan shippensburg, died Friday in Chambersburg Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1910 in New Castle, to the late Frank and Hattie Maloney Chestney and was the widow of Russell M.

Hill and Millard Cornelius. She was a former licensed practical nurse at South Mountain Restoration Center and former employee of the former Shirtcraft Co.
