954. Kiddies Photo Contest The Leaf River Pre-school Mothers Club will hold a "Kute Kiddies" contest in conjunction with the "Fall Festival." The two age groups in the contest are from 1 to 3 and from 4 through kindergarten. Cash prizes will be awarded the two winners in each division. Pictures of entries and a $1 fee (or the contest may be entered until Sept. 2 with.

The two boys and two girls who have been selected as winners will be announced during the opening night of the "Fall Festival," Sept. 9. The last concert of the summer season will be presented at 7:30 p.m.

Hanover Youth Still Unconscious 15-year-old Hanover youth, severely injured in a 1-car automobile accident early Sunday morning at the south edge of Hanover, remains unconscious and in critical condition today. Gayle Taylor reportedly suffered a brain injury in the crash and is now a patient at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. Two other Hanover youths, Keith Eadie and Joe Reifsteck, both 20, also- involved in the crash, have been released from Savanna City Hospital.

Eadie and Reif- suffered cuts anc both bruises. The accident took place about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the car which Eadie was driving missec a curve and rolled over severa times. The youths were rushed to the hospital by ambulance Reifsteck and Taylor were pas sengers in the car Their car was totally demolished, authentic; said. According to reports receivec icre, Lloyd was bitten by a rat- while cutting thistles in a field on the Ralph Virtue farm northeast of Galena. Working alone in the muggy heat, two miles from home, Lloyd had to hink and act fast. The bite was high on the in side calf of his right leg. Re membering his training as member of Pleasant View 4-1 lub, Lloyd used the point of the scythe to make an incision over the fang marks and used hi mouth to suck out the poisonec blood. He then made a tournique with one of his schoelaces and be gan walking the two miles home After about a mile, he met a neighbor, Vincent Spillane, wh quickly notified Hazel Green Hospital he was bringing the youth in for rattlesnake bite treatment.

The hospital immediately dis patched a nurse to Dubuque fc get serum needed to combat th poison. Lloyd was released from the hospital two days later wit a commendation from hospita doctors for his fast action in th field. He is now at home with hi parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarenc Reddington, who are afraid think what might have happene if Lloyd hadn't been trained ho to react after snake bite.
