House 1'lumblng A committee from the Plumlers' Union called on the State House commissioners last week and made verbal charges of faulty work and inferior materials. They were asked to reduce these to writing, which they did, with the statement that they had still more charges, aud the commissioners that these be incorporated also, and another report from Jhe committee is now in course of preparation. It is not likely that anything will come of the matter, as the commissioners are eyidently satisfied that Mr. Farrell is doing the work honestly and in accordance with hit contract.

A gentleman who has traveled extensively over the State finds that trouble everywhere is arising over the interpretation of the) uew law resecting the Hoards of County Commissioners. A pr6 vision of the law is de signed to prevent the retirement of rnore than one commissioner at a time. In several counties, including Orange, Delaware and Kandolph, there will be contests, and probably two Boards will sit at the same time. In this county also two commissioners will "probably retire together which, it is held, is contrary to the intention of tbe law.

Charity BalL The fashionable event of tbe season In Indianapolis promises to be the charity ball at English's Opera House on than one hundred rooms have bten engaged at the various hotels by people from other cities who' are coming. It is understood that Messrs. Newcotnb and Gallabue, two of the members of the committee which investigated the affairs of the City Hospital, will present a report to Council completely exonerating Dr. Wishard of any mismanagement or neglect, and that Mr. Doyle, the other member, will make a minority report, censurii the superintendent for various things.
