Ordinance No. 255 dated December 2 1963: No service lateral or any other connection to the sanitary system shall be permitted without obtaining a permit from the office of the Borough Secretary. All service laterals and all connections from buildings to the service laterals hereafter installed shall be constructed of an approved type of pipe, shall have permanent tight joints, a minimum grade of one percent (1) the best possible alignment and adequate cover to protect the Pipe from crushing or frost ac tion. Laterals shall have a minimum size of six (6) inches internal diameter. Building and industrial laterals shall be sized according to expected flow but in no cae shall they be less than six (6) inches in internal diameter.

Upon application, the Borough may in certain cases grant Dcr mission to install laterals of four (4) or five (5) inch lateral diam eter. Such cases will only be eon sidered where grades are in ex cess of 2, where there are no abrupt changes in grade or align ment, and wnere, the iuda- ment of the Borough, there is a minimum danger of future clog ging. Service laterals shall conform to tV following specifications: Material Vitrified Clay Pipe. Medium Weight Cast Iron Pipe. Asbestos Cement Pipe.

Sanitary Sewage Defined Sanitary sewage or domesti waste consists of liquid in dwellings, public places, business buildings, factor and institutions. Industria' w'aste is liquid waste from an industrial process. Both domestic and indus'rial waste may be dic charged to the sanitary sewe; system. However, the Borough oi Brockway reserves the right tr treat industries discharging in dustrial waste on an individual basis and may request increasec' rates or separate treatment facil itios whore conditions warrant such steps. No user of the sanitary sewc svstem shall connect any roof drains, onteide area drains, foundation drains, springs 0r an-source of ground or surface wa er to the panitarv sower system Any resident of the Borough who nas such connexions now rvist 'ng immediately discontinue them Connection to Main Sewers All laterals should join tin ma.n sewers by means of thi wye or tee provided.

When tht lateral is to be constructed of different material than that oi the wye or tee it is to be con nected to, a suitable adapter nouia he usea. in cases when no lateral is available connectioi should be made by one of thi following methods: Pollard coupling. Smith and Loveless coupling. A carefully cut hole in th. main sewer and a jointure bj means of a vitrified clay or caddie concreted in Place.

Prior to cutting a main sewer the Borough of Brockway should be advised so that their representative may be present at the time that the main sewer is cut. The Borough shall be notilie; at the time of construction oi any connection to the sanitary sewer system ana snail provide timely inspection of material and of the installation of the lateral Prior to backfilling.
