October 15, 2000 THE TIMES AND DEMOCRAT Orangeburg, S.C. Sunday, Mrs. Maude H. Lawrence The funeral for Mrs. Maude Haigler Lawrence of 753 Goff Avenue, Orangeburg, will be held on Monday, October 16, 2000 at Trinity United Methodist Church at 11 o'clock a.m.

with the Rev. George F. Manigo, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in Orangeburg Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 9 a.m.

Mrs. Lawrence, the daughter of the late Robert and Hattie Martino Haigler, was born in Bowman, SC, on September 1, 1907. She died on Thursday, October 12, 2000. She was a retired teacher and was the widow of Reverend Rufus G. Lawrence.

She was a member of the Interdenominational Ministers' Wives and Widows Alliance, the United Methodist Women, and the Claflin University National and local Alumni Associations. Survivors include four sons, Rufus G. Lawrence of Atlanta, GA, James Robert Lawrence of Augusta, GA, Rayburne J. Lawrence of Chicago, IL, and Thomas E. Lawrence of Orangeburg, SC; four daughters, Mrs.

Lillian L. Thomas of Pasadena, CA, Mrs. Amy L. Allen of Winston-Salem, NC, Mrs. Dorothy L.

Patton of Atlanta, GA and Mrs. Rubielee L. Addison of Clemson, SC; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 19 great great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Zerlie Addison of Columbia, SC and a brother, Thomas Haigler of Bowman, SC. Friends may call at the residence and at Bythewood Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Maude H. Lawrence Scholarship Fund, Claflin University, 400 Magnolia Street, Orangeburg, SC 29115. OBITUARIES Ms. Sirlenia Brown The funeral for Ms. Sirlenia Brown, 88, of 319 Tyler Road, Orangeburg, will be held at 1 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 at Edisto Fork United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Hayes T. Gainey and Bishop Franklin J. Matthews officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will the United Methodist Men. The casket will be placed in the church at noon. Ms. Brown was born Aug.

10, 1912, a daughter of the late Charles Brown and Maria Burch Brown. She attended Sterling Grammar School. At an early age, she joined Williams Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served with the Gospel Choir, the Willing Workers Club and the Missionary Society. Survivors include five nephews who were raised in the home, James E.

Dozier of Fayetville, John Brown of the home, Joseph (Cassandra) Brown of Dale City, Willie Ray (Loretta) Brown of and Roger Brown of N.Y. Mrs. Thelma Ruth McDowell Brown The funeral for Mrs. Thelma Ruth McDowell Brown, 93, of Route 3, Box 645, Larry King Summerton, will be held at 1 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church in Summerton, with the Rev. William T. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The casket will be placed in the church at noon. Mrs. Brown died Thursday, Oct. 12, at her residence. She was born in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Thomas and Agatha McDowell.

She attended Scott's Branch High School. She was a member of Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Henry Brown. Survivors include six daughters, Eva Quarles of Washington, D.C., Geneva Finney of Orangeburg, Maran Duren of Wilmington, N.C., Ethel Marshall of Lynchburg, Maxine Reynolds of Oakland, Calif. and Beatrice Rivers of the home; four sons, Henry Brown Jr.

and Nathaniel Brown, both of Washington, D.C., Harrison Brown of Sumter and Thomas Brown of Orangeburg; a sister, Edith Ragin of four brothers, Lester Richburg of Baltimore, Omega Richburg and Allen Richburg, both of Penn. and Julian Richburg of Columbia; nine grandchildren; In Loving Memory Of LEILA BONAPARTE MINNIGAN who departed this life eleven years ago today, October 15, 1989 Missing you. Mrs. Bessie Stansell Caldwell The funeral for Mrs. Bessie Stansell Caldwell, of 1046 Boulevard, Orangeburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Orangeburg Lutheran Church, with Pastor Steven B. Counts officiating.

Mrs. Caldwell died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, in Jacksonville, Fla. Active pallbearers will be Ciremba Amick, Lawfrence Garick, Billy Sandel, Hubert Biser, George Barber and Richard Garick. Mrs.

Stansell was born in Piedmont, a daughter of the late Claude Stansell and Maude Stansell. She was a graduate of York High School. She was a former employee of Addens Camera Shop and Liberty Life Insurance Co. She was a member of Orangeburg Lutheran Church and its Claribel Eargle Circle. She was also a member of the Music Appreciation Club of Orangeburg and a volunteer worker at the Gift Shop at The Regional Medical Center.

She was the widow of Sims W. Caldwell. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn C. Hartzog of Beaufort and Mrs.

Wanda C. Brewton of Jacksonville, and three granddaughters, Elizabeth Ashley Fogle of Amherst, Evelyn McAlister Hartzog of Clemson and Amy Brewton Leasure of Ocala, Fla. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m Sunday at the residence. Friends may also call at the residence and at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home at other times. Hayne Crum The funeral for Hayne Crum, 86, of 277 N. Palmetto Denmark, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2000, at Bethel Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Blaine Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the residence. Mr. Crum died Friday, Oct. 14, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Denmark, a son of the late J. Wesley Crum and Priscilla Hart Crum. A 1935 graduate of Wofford College, he attended George Washington University Law School and graduated from the University of South Carolina In Loving Memory Of Edith Gadson Waymer (Affectionately Known As "Sis "Miss "Aunt who departed this life two years ago today, October 15, 1998. Sadly Missed And Never Forgotten, Your Family School of Law in 1939 and was admitted to the S.C.

Bar the same year. He served on the South Carolina Supreme Court Commission on Grievance and Discipline and the S.C. Bar Commission on Taxation Law Specialization. He also served on the State Health Coordinating Committee. He was very active at Bethel Park United Methodist Church, serving in many positions, including teaching Sunday school for over 40 years.

He was also active in Denmark civic affairs. From 1940 through 1945, he was a colonel and served as traffic control officer for U.S. Army Headquarters under General Omar Bradley. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War. He served with the 360th Civil Affairs Unit of the U.S.

Army Reserves after which he served as the commanding officer of the Twelfth Judge Advocate General Detachment. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Bass Crum of Denmark; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Crum of Columbia; two sons, J. Wesley Crum III of Greenville and Henry Hayne Crum III of Evansville, a sister, Carolina Crum Hunt of Columbia; a brother, David Hart Crum of Denmark; and three grandsons. The family suggests memorials be made to Bethel Park United Methodist Church.

Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Karolyn 'Kay' Patterson Hartzog Mrs. Karolyn "Kay" Patterson Hartzog, 67, of Blackville, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at The Blackville First Baptist Church. Burial will be held in the Double Pond Church Cemetery. Mrs.

Hartzog was born in Eddyville, a daughter of the late William Walter and Laura Jewel Patterson. She was a retired supervisor of claims with the South Carolina Job Service. She was a member of The Blackville First Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher for over 25 years, and she was a member of Naomi Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband, Tommy O. Hartzog of the home; a daughter, Penny H.

Creech of Barnwell; two sisters, Winnie Whitaker of Redmond, and Nell Patterson of Los Angeles, and three grandchildren. Folk Funeral Home of Blackville is in charge of arrangements. Phillip Henderson Phillip Henderson, 77, of 179 Reeves Branch Road, Branchville, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg following a brief illness. Funeral plans will be announced by Owens Funeral Home of Branchville.

Friends may call at the residence and at Owens Funeral Home. Mrs. Virginia T. Holman Graveside service for Mrs. Virginia T.

Holman, 98, of 1000 Live Oaks Drive, Orangeburg, and formerly of Cameron, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Cameron Cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Young officiating. Mrs.

Holman died Friday, Oct. 13. She was born in Union, a daughter of the late Karl August Trefzler and the late Ida Virginia Smith. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. The family suggests memorials may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, P.O.

Rosa Jamison, 86, of 234 Oakridge Drive, Orangeburg, was held Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Greater Refuge Temple Church in New York, N.Y. Burial was in Andrew Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Orangeburg. Mrs. Jamison died Friday, Oct.

6, at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, N.Y. She was born Nov. 17, 1914, in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late John Jamison and Lillie Wright Jamison. She received her early education at Forest Chapel and Andrew Chapel Schools in Orangeburg County. She joined Andrew Baptist Church.

In later years, she became a part of The Greater Refuge Temple Church Family. She was homemaker. Survivors include a sister, Eloise Johnson of Bowman; and four brothers, James Jamison, John Jamison, and Abraham Jamison, all of New York, and George Jamison of Orangeburg. Ollie Joyce Thomas Jeffcoat Ollie Joyce Thomas Jeffcoat, 48, of 92 Linden Yonder, N.Y., formerly of North, died Tuesday, Oct.

Crumel Funeral Home. Mrs. Louise Brown Littman The funeral for Mrs. Louise Brown Littman, 89, of 1221 Thirty-Five Mile Road, Ridgeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Pisgah AME Church in Ridgeville, with the Rev.

John P. Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Shuler Cemetery in Ridgeville. Mrs. Littman died Wednesday, Oct.

11, 2000. Active pallbearers will be nephews. She was born March 12, 1911, in Ridgeville, a daughter of the late Daniel Brown and Lucinda Palmer Brown. She grew up in Ridgeville and attended the public schools there. She was employed as a nurse's aide at Roper Hospital for many years.

She was a member of Mount Pisgah AME Church before she moved to Charleston and joined St. Matthew Baptist Church, where she served as a member of Usher Board No. 2. She was the widow of Andrew Littman. Survivors include a son, Kline Pringle Jr.

of Charleston; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Weldon, Mrs. Wilhelmena Green and Mrs. Hattie King, all of Ridgeville; a niece raised as a sister, Mrs. Essie Mae Felder of Ridgeville; and a nephew raised as a brother, Roy Brown of Ridgeville.

Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Sarah Weldon, 1221 Thirty-Five Mile Road, Ridgeville, and at Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home of Holly Hill. Mrs. Anne Wienges Stallworth Mrs. Anne Wienges Stallworth, of Charleston, died Saturday, Oct.

14, 2000. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

Burial will be held in Magnolia Cemetery. She was born August 2, 1919, in St. Matthews, a daughter of O'Henry Wienges and Celeste George Wienges. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and a retired professional tour guide with Charleston Guide Service.

She was a member of the Ivy Garden Club, St. Michael's Women's Organization and Colonial Dames of America. She was also a board member and treasurer for twenty years of Association for the Blind, board member of Ladies Benevolent Society, board member of South Carolina Medical Association Auxiliary (Charleston Chapter) and board member of Preservation Society of Charleston. She was the widow of Dr. J.

Manly Stallworth. Survivors include a daughter, Sarah S. Sebrell of Suffolk, two sons, Dr. James M. Stallworth Jr.

of Burlington, N.C., and Henry W. Stallworth of Columbia; a brother, Othniel H. Weinges Jr. of St. Matthews; and five grandchildren.

Downtown Chapel of Charleston is in charge of arrangements. Charles 'Chicken' Taylor Charles E. "Chicken" Taylor, 62, of 717 Smoak Road, Walterboro, died Friday at his residence. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Brice W.

Herndon and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Walterboro. Burial will be in Limeston Baptist Church Cemtery near Dorchester. Mr. Taylor was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Dorchester County, a son of Mrs.

Yurie Hilton Taylor and the late Charles Edward Taylor Sr. He was a retired S.C. Highway Patrolman First Class, having served 32 years with the department. He was a former security guard with Colleton Medical Center. He was a U.S.

Army veteran and a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He attended Victory Baptist Church and was a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association and Unity No. 55 Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Conlee Voss Taylor; his mother of Orangeburg; four sons, Chuckie Taylor and Johnnie Voss, both of Walterboro, Dwaine Voss of Homestead, and Brandon Voss of Huntersville, N.C.; five daughters, Kristen Voss of Walterboro, Laura Hancock and Pam Fayali, both of St.

Stephen, and Wanda Funk and Tracy Thomas, both of Moncks Corner; a brother, Bobby Taylor of Orangeburg; a sister, Elaine T. Chestnut of Orangeburg; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Rev.

Dr. Coit R. Troutman Jr. The funeral for the Rev. Dr.

Coit R. Troutman 81, of 521 Plantation Drive, Santee, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at Santee Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr.

Richard Loringer, the Rev. Dr. Richard Cushman and the Rev. Dr. Barry Jenkins officiating.

Burial will be private. Dr. Troutman died Wednesday, Oct. 11. He was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., a son of the late Coit Ray Troutman and Jamie Leigh Summers Troutman.

He was pastor of Santee Presbyterian Church and has been an ordained minister for five decades. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University, Southern Seminary in Louisville, and received his Doctorate of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. He served pastorates in Charlotte, N.C., Falls Church, and Rock Hill. He served as a U.S. armed forces chaplain for 28 years on reserve and active duty, retiring as an Army lieutenant colonel.

He was a former trustee of the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhuon Counties. He was former president of the Rotary Club of Lake Marion. Survivors include his wife, Anne Turlington of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Lynn Troutman of Charlotte, N.C., and Linda Brafford of Rock Hill; a son, Coit Ray Troutman III of Charlotte; two step-daughters, Anne Bowman O'Connor of Dallas, and Paige S. Dickow of San Anselma, two stepsons, Bayly Fielding Turlington of Scotland and Bradley S. Skidmore of Atlanta, a brother, John A.

Troutman of Charlotte; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Santee Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 649, Santee, S.C. 29142. Avinger Funeral Home of Holly Hill is in charge of arrangements.

Enoch Andrew Williams Enoch Andrew Williams, 66, of 3766 Canaan Bridge Road, Cordova, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg after a brief illness. Funeral plans will be announced by Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg. Friends may call at her son's residence, Mr. Randy Williams, of 1229 Jarnigan Drive, Orangeburg, at her residence and at the al home.

Reinaldo Javier Rivera, 37, was charged Friday in the 1999 death of 18-year-old Tiffaney Shereese Wilson, of Jackson.

After interviewing Riveria, Aiken County sheriff's investigators found skeletal remains off I- 20 about seven miles east of the Georgia border. An autopsy will be performed Saturday to identify the remains found Friday. She had been stabbed in the throat three times and raped, Richmond County authorities said.

In all, Rivera faces charges of murder, rape, aggravated assault and aggravated sodomy in Richmond County, and two counts of murder and two counts of criminal sexual conduct in Aiken County.
