Special Jliatrh to Th Inter Ocean. NEW ORLEANS, Dec 28. The atew-erds cf the Crescent City Jockey club took a determined stand today against poor Jockey-ship and horses that fail to run to form. After Big Bow was badly beaten In the third race at the Fair grounds track they ordered the secretary to refuse his entry in the future. At the same time they suspended in-ui'flnltely Jockey Keyes, bis rider.

This action was executed so quietly that scarcely more than a half dozen turfmen knew about it at the end of the day's sport. An investigation of the jockey and horse Is ordered and will take place beginning tomorrow. -'Laokt I.Ike Shoo 1st. In the parlance of the race track. Debar seemed to be shooed This horse was made a top-heavy favorUeat 1 to 2, and was backed ly every clever horseman at the He tid been raolng prominently cf late, but not enough to warrant this plunge.

Holloway vac second and Big Bow third choice. Debar took the leaci from the start. Although he Is a slow beginner and more of a riuer than a speedy horse. It was noticeable that the opposing jockeys to.k a pull on their mounts and permitted him to go to the front. Keyes was most apathetic.

He kept Big Bow in the rear of the field until the last furlong. The horso fought bis head. In the stretch Keyes gave him free rein. The horse responded well, but the effort came too late, and he was unable to fir. Uh better than lUlh.

Hi Tiai Breaks Even. Baa and good luck came to big Tim Sullivan's in turn today, as he lost and won races with GolJ Circle and Henry liw. the defeat of the itrst namt.U cost the Tammanyltes here many dollars and the success of the latte. failed tc compensate them for their early losses. Gold Circle was plunged upon to beat Morales and Sir Toudingtjn in the fifth race.

Although this gelcing was ridden by Garner aud el handled by the clever jockey, he was unable to finish better than third. The two mentioned horses finished first arcl second respectively. In the first race Toy Boy, making his second-appearance here, won his second victory. Although the bookmakers did not lay such lung odds against him as at bis initial appearance, tbe betting- proposition was so KOoQ that several thousands are said to have Lc-ea won on the speedy colt. Some of tha boys re slightly under tbe weather with colds, but Coach Steffen declares that he is greatly pleased with the condition of the team in general.

Tbe boys lost their practice ball this morning at Sauk Center and were compelled to wait until Fargo was reached before it could be replaced. Several Chicago citizecs on the train telegraphed ahead to Fargo, and the new football was waiting for the boys at the arrival of the train. The boys find that the North uakota weather Is snytbing but pleasant, and have been instructed by Coach Steffen to stsy in doors as much ss possible. Chart talks have been given several times so Sar. and toe men ere studying the new formations at every opportunity.

He was not to be downed in this way, however, and boarded the 10 o'clock train Christmas night over the Northwestern and met the boys this morning. Captain Dornblaser and Manager "Schlllo started a subscription among the boys and the Chicago residents on the train and raised in a short time the necessary funds -to take the one armed substitute on the remainder of the trip.
