Charles homestcaded a farm south of White City and sold it and purchased a farm nearer White City where the family lived until 1899. He was married to Sarah Frances Parsons who came to Kansas with her parents who took a claim in Jewel County and lived there until the grasshopper year. They were forced to abandon the claim and went to Texas for a year. Still having faith in Kansas came to Morris where Charles and Sarah met and were married Nov. 10, 1879.

They had three children Clarence, Elta and Emma. Clarence took the back trail of his ancestors and moved to Paris, 111., where he passed away in 1937. Mr. and. Mrs.

Council Grove was the last point where wagons met and formed a caravan. This place was the last chance for supplies for the west bound travelers.
