Remarks in favor of the farm were mad br other peraona, and tbe meeting then unanimously adopted the following resolu tion Resolved, That we recommend to the Stat Board 01 Agriculture the Shimer farm a tbe most suitable eplace for the selection of the new Fair grounds. William Langataff suggested to the meet ing that tbeatxty nve acres owned by the State, and lyinv south of the deaf ajl dumb institute, should be need for fair pur poses, i orty acrea adjoining, be aaid, could be purchased.

Dr. W. 11. Wlahard called attention to the fact that the laud owned by the State lay on both aide of the Michigan road, and that tbe road could not be closed without joint action by C'oogrea and tbo Legisla ture 01 Indiana. 1 he ground, it waa conceded, waa out of the question.

Dr. Wish ard also gave aome good reasons why the, fair should go to the Shimer Clay aoil, he said, mad tbe beat race and the Shimer farm waa the only one under consideration that could furnish good, genuine old yellow clay for a race track. Superintendent Galloway, of the TL dc D. road, stated to th meeting that hi company had made a proposition in writing to tbe board to expend $125,000 in improvements in case the fair waa located on th Shimer farm. This money would be put ia switches, station at the Shimer farm, etc.

Mr. Galloway aaid believed hia road would do more for the fair than any other road coming in to Indianapolis. Chairman Chapman waa instructed to appoint a committee of fir to co operat with a like committee representing th Irvingtor people who will work to induce the board to accept the Shimr farm.
