Col. Thackston was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was dean of students emeritus of Presbyterian College and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Clinton and the Clinton Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Julia Dukes Thackston of the home; four daughters, Susan Thackston Clark and Nancy Thackston Nettles, both of Spartanburg, Carolyn Thackston Snyder of Lawrenceville, N.J., and Dorothy Thackston Lam-bright of Brunswick, a sister, Dorothy Thackston Todd of Orangeburg; and nine grandchildren.

and Lillian Phillips Thackston. Col. Thackston was retired from the U.S. Army with 30 years of service. He was an honor military graduate of Clemson College in 1926 and attended several military schools, including tank, Mrs.

Jackie Bilton CROSS, S.C. Mrs. Jackie Lebby Bilton, 47, of P.O. Box 178, Cross, died Thursday at Medical University Hospital in Charleston following a brief illness. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m.

Saturday at Friendship United Methodist Church in Cross, with the Rev. Robert Way officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Pallbearers will be Jerry Truesdale, Michael Bilton, Ellison Singletary, Derwood Copeland, Steve Griebe, Joe Rudd, O'dell Shuler and George Thompson.

Mrs. Bilton was born in Moncks Corner, a daughter of Davis E. Lebby and Anges Cross Lebby. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, its UMW, the Women's Aglow Fellowship and the Christian Women's Association and a member of the Columbia College Alumnae. Survivors include her husband, Delbert Bilton of the home; her parents of Cross; a daughter, Mrs.

Annette Ghan of Little Rock, a son, Del Bilton of Cross; a brother, Capt. Davis Lebby Jr. of Riverdale, and a grandson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Av-inger Funeral Home in Holly Hill.

Idell G. Bonaparte ST. MATTHEWS, S.C. The funeral for Mrs. Idell Givance Bonaparte, 85, of 603 Calhoun Road, St.

Matthews, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. George R. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Albert, John-E. Bonaparte J.D. Dickerson, Ernest Govan, Mallie Q. Jackson and George Turkvan. The casket will be placed in the church at noon.

Mrs. Bonaparte died Monday. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Givance.

She attended the public schools of Calhoun County and was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, the Union Progressive Society, the Calhoun County NAACP, Friendly Community Club, Calvary Ladies Union and the Senior Choir of her church. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Caring Group and was the widow of Joseph 0. Bonaparte. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn B.

Haigler and Mrs. Willie C. (Margaret) Jackson, both of St. Matthews, Mrs. William (Virginia) Merritt of Passaic, N.J., and Mrs.

Cato (Adelaide) Goodwine of Aberdeen, N.J.; a son, James L. Bonaparte of Springfield, a foster son, Joe Nathan Hart of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; five sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Mitchell, Mrs. Nettie Moss, Mrs. Whilamenia Mintz and Mrs.

Marie Johnson, all of St. Matthews, and Mrs. Ethel Perry of Orangeburg; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carson's Funeral Home in St.

Washington was born in Cross, S.C, a son of Herbert Washington and Rhena Nesbit Washington. He attended Central High School and moved to New York in 1956. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Washington of Brooklyn; three daughters, Mrs. Beverly Davis, Mrs.

Belinda Sherry Turner and Ms. Cassandra Washington, all of Brooklyn; a son, Joseph Washington Jr. of Brooklyn; his parents of Cross, S.C; a brother, Raymond Washington of Brooklyn; and three grandchildren. Friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs.

Whaley died Wednesday. She was born in Clarendon County, a daughter of the late Flora Butler Watson and Hamlin Watson. She attended the public schools of Clarendon County. She was a member of Liberty Hill AME Church and served on Stewardess Board No. 2.

She was the widow of Clinton Whaley. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Margie W. Tilley and Mrs. Annie Lee W.

Smith, both of Santee; three sons, Fred Whaley of the home, Ernest Whaley of Fort Lauderdale, and Clinton Whaley Jr. of Lauderhill, a foster daughter, Mrs. Floree R. Dixon of Fort Lauderdale, four sisters, Mrs. Elnora Miller, Mrs.

McMillan was teaching psychology and science at Andrew Jackson Academy near Bamberg when he was charged but has since left the teaching profession. He was president of the SCEA in the early 1980s and again in 1987-88. He also served 14 years on Salley Town Council and ran unsuccessfully for House District 86 seat in 1984 and 1988. After moving to New York, she attended Kingdom Hall in New York. She was educated at Island School in Providence and did her college work in Augusta, Ga.

Burial will be in Heavenly Rest Memorial Park. The casket will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Mr. Cleckley died Wednesday. He was born in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Tom Cleckley and Cora Cleckley.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Cordova. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sadie Cleckley of the home; 11 children, Shelly Cleckley Jr. of Fredricksburg, Alice P. Mrs. Lillian Brown Middleton The funeral for Mrs. Lillian Brown Middleton, 80, of 1380 Hill Drive, Orangeburg, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Simmons Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder David Smith officiating. Burial will be in Belleville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Mrs. Middleton died Monday. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late James Wolley and Delia Amaker Wolley. She attended the Orangeburg County public schools and Joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church at an early age.

She later moved to Yonkers, N.Y., where she Joined Community Baptist Church and was an active member for 30 years. She was a member of the Lawrence Kay Choir and other clubs. She was first married to the LEXINGTON, S.C. Former S.C Education Association head Terrell M. McMillan pled guilty and was convicted this week of molesting a 15-year-old boy by a Lexington County Court.

McMillan, 56, of Salley pleaded guilty under an agreement that kept the youth from having to testify. He pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to five years, suspended after he serves two years and completes five years on probation. McMillan faced six sex charges, filed in May, each of which carried a possible penalty of 20 years. The charges stemmed from a 10-day investigation sparked by an informant. Lexington County sheriff's investigators said McMillan had sexual liaisons with the teen-ager between March and May at an abandoned hosue on S.C.

Highway 6 near Victor Road. McMillan had been free on a $60,000 surety bond since his arrent.
