The vessel had gone as bo re early that morning.

It is not known whether or not she sustained anr injury. A sbobt time ago some vandals at 8a.d Beach went on board the schooner George fi. The crews bad been getting Canadian wages 61.25 and would no doubt have felt satisfied at tnst had not the emissaries of the seamea's union whispered In their ears that other crews were being paid A number of sailors were about the dock at toe foot ot Adams street, aud the tugs had been thrown a line. when, without warning, the sailors on board announced that they wanted $2.50 a dar for their services, or would not work.

Captains Phillips, of the Acacia, and tiowry, of the Lydon. informed them that they would aot accede to their demands, and some hard words passed between them, aud the sailors sav tiat blows were struok. At any rate. Captains Lo wry and Phillips were arrested oa charges ot assault and battery, taken to the Central Police Station, and released on 25 bail. Considerable excitement prevailed on the docks, in consequence of the turn affairs had taken, but the turbulent element soon quieted down, aud all was again serene.

At a late hour last night no one could be tound ubonrd the Acacia, with the exception of her oltlcers. aud all was still. The Frn JVrss says the cuptaln of the tug Dudley gives the following particulars of the disaster to the schooner wnlon went ashore on Middle Island reel on the night ot the 23d: "1'be Filater and two vesaela were working their way up, with the intention ot getting under the lee of False Presque Isle point, where tbey intended to lay at anchor until me weather was more favorable, a heavy wind sweeping down the lake at the time. When the vessels were close to Middle Island a light was observed which was supposed to be the light at False Presque Isle, and the Island waa mistaken tor Presque Isle point. Toe Poster, which was leading, had eome up in the wind, preparatory lo letting go the anchor, when those on board (elt the vessel strike on the bottom, and before auy precautions could be taken the Faster was hard aground on the reef, which 14 something like half a mile southeast of the island.

The captain ot the second vessel, observing the aisaetr. swung around and passed between the Poster and Middle Island, and by good luck found the only place on the reef where bis vessel could tiavlj gone over, the captain cot knowing ml the next moruinc how near he bad escaped getting hard on the reef.
