14 i. I EXTENSION BOARD ELECT OFFICERS The Cass County Extension Board has a new chairman. The board reorganized at the regular meeting held Monday evening, February 11 at the Extension office. Officers for 1974 are: Chairman Richard O. Cole, Plattsmouth; Vice Chairman William Wegener, Louisville; and Secretary-Treasurer Mrs.

Ted Ohnoutka, Plattsmouth. The regular meeting date of the Board starting in April will be the first Thursday evening of each month. Union Mayor Files For Commissioner William Whipple of Union has filed for the office of County Commissioner for the Second District on the Democratic ticket. Records show his filing date as Feb. 4.

Mr. Whipple, 67, is mayor of Union. He is married to the former Jewel Taylor. They have four children. Now in semi-retirement, Mr.

Whipple was a farmer for a long time in the Union area he also ran a seed business there for ten years. Mr. Whipple is a Mason with the Nebraska City Lodge, a member of the Royal Arts, and of the Order of the Eastern Star. -If "7 ill -r-f MTPt pfQ-iS pi pointed out that 974 farm families in 51 counties have been honored at various county fairs during the first eighteen years of the project. Mr.

Moeller and Orville Koch, Otoe County, secretary-treasurer, said that again this year the honored families will receive an engraved walnut plaque and an aluminum gatepost marker for each farm from the Knights of The Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben and the Nebraska Association of Fair Managers announced today that nominations for the nineteenth annual Nebraska Pioneer Farm Family awards are being accepted. The program honors farm families in Nebraska whose land has been owned by the same family for 100 years or more. Roy Moeller, Cuming County, president of the Association, Ak-Sar-Ben, plus a special framed citation from the Nebraska Association of Fair Managers. In addition, Ak-Sar-Ben will host the honored families at a special banquet during the organization's annual Livestock Show and Rodeo, September 20 through September 28. All nominations must be submitted by June to the Secretary of the local County Fair Board, Mr.

Moeller said. Offutt Wives Visit Museum Beckman Files For District Court Clerk Ralph (Ed) Beckman, RFD 1, Plattsmouth, has filed for the office of Cass County Clerk of the District Court on the Republican ticket. Records show his filing date as Feb. 13. Mr.

Beckman, 24, is currently serving as the deputy clerk of the MrLvfoii A recycling drive is being conducted during the month of February by the five Plattsmouth elementary schools. Used catalogues and telephone books are the items being sougnt; all collected materials are being sent to the recycling center in Omaha. To date over 125 phone books and 130 assorted catalogues have been collected at Park School alone. Services Held For Matilda Bomberg Funeral services were held today at the Fusselman Perry Funeral Home for Matilda G.

Bomberg, 64, of Plattsmouth who died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Omaha. The Rev. John H. Middents officiated.

George Ebersole, Rudolph Zafic, Ray Aylor, Verner Kaffenberger, Leighton Ballinger, and Richard Rhoades were pallbearers. Interment was at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Matilda Bomberg was born March 8, 1809 in Sweden, the daughter of Jon and Teckla Carslon Alexen. She married John Bomberg on Sept. 30, 1933 at Papillion.

She came to this country when she was one year old and was raised in the Louisville area. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Plattsmouth, the VFW Auxiliary, the Stitch and Chatter Club and the Starlite Bingo Club. She is survived by her husband, Jon, a son Ivan, a daughter, Mrs. Merlyn (Elna) Hodge, both of Plattsmouth; three grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Alexen of Havasu Lake, and Elmer Alexen of Plattsmouth; four sisters, Mrs. Leroy (Mildred) Meisinger, Louisville; Mrs.

Harry (Ruth) Porter, Lincoln; Mrs. Chester (Marie) Lager-strom, Plattsmouth, and Mrs. Donald (Betty) Seeba of Schertz, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. A memorial has been established by her daughter, Mrs.

Hodge. Fusselman-Perry Funeral Home, Plattsmouth had charge of arrangements. Columbian PTA To Sell T-Shirts SCHOOL BOARD MEETING A meeting of all School Board members of Cass County to elect the County Committee for School District Reorganization will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21.

Perry and Mrs. Lindquist. 80 Attend Meeting After Bail Game Approximately 80 persons stayed after the Falls City basketball game to hear Glenn White and Tom Conis, co-chairman of the committee for the successful passage of the school bond issue. Of those 30, 31 volunteered to serve on committees. It was announced at that informal gathering that Carol Schreiner and Bob Curttright would head the publicity committee for the group.

Mrs. Schreiner will have charge of press and radio contacts and the addressing oi informal gatherings. Mr. Curttright will be conducting an attitudinal survey and will also have charge of presentations for civic groups. At that meeting Mr.

Conis stressed the fact that a new school for Plattsmouth is not "a luxury but a necessity for the community." The co-chairmen said that they are well-pleased with the capabilities of the people who have volunteered so far but emphasized that more volunteers are needed. at Louise Curryjormer Resident Dies At Age 108 Eagle (Special) Mrs. Louise Curry, a Plattsmouth resident, died Jan. 29 at Loveland, at the age of 108. She was the oldest living Colorado resident at the time of her death.

Mrs. Curry was born Dec. 20, 1865 in County Kilkenny, Ireland where her father, Adolphe d'AJIemand was a professor of languages. Her mother, Marion Wood, came from a large industrial family in Liverpool, England. Mrs.

Curry came to American with her parents when she was five years old. They settled in Plattsmouth. After serving for four years as superintendent of the schools in Plattsmouth, Mr. d'AJIemand took his family of seven sons and two daughters to western Nebraska. Mrs.

Curry grew up in Arapahoe where she married William Samuel Curry, Dec. 25, 1892. Mr. Curry became manager NEW TRANSMISSION LINE TO GO CP BETWEEN L'NADILLA EEPING WATER A $169,778.56 contract was awarded by the Omaha Public Power District to the E. A.

Pedersen Company, of Omaha for the construction of a 20-mile 69 Kv transmission line between Unadilla and Weeping Water, Nebraska. The new line will provide additional capacity for growing electrical loads in the area. Ray DeRosia Files For Commissioner Ray De Rosia, RFD 2, Plattsmouth has filed for the office of District No. 2 County Commissioner on the Republican ticket. Records show the filing date to be Feb.

13. Mr. De Rosia, 50, is married to the former Joan Faler. The McDonald Files For Re-election W. J.

B. McDonald has filed for re-election as Cass County Clerk on the Republican ticket. Records show his filing date as Feb. 14. Mr.

McDonald will be seeking his third consecutive term of office. Besides his two elected terms, the incumbent was appointed for three years to fill a vacancy in the office. Mr. McDonald and his wife, Mary, make their home in Murdock. today (Monday). Names Omitted From Honor Roll The names of Rich Manely, junior, and Susan Haag, eighth grade were omitted from the Plattsmouth Community Schools honor roll last Thursday. "Utile Devil" T-shirt to be told by the Columbian Parent-Teacher Association 1 modeled by David Cook, a filth grader at the Columbian School. His father, Bob Cook president of the PTA at Columbian. The shirts will be sold on pre-pay order basis to anyone throughout Plattsmouth for children in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.

According to Cook, order forms for the shirts will be distributed in the schools, and also will be available at the Ray Dawson TV Repair Store on Main Street where a sample shirt Is on display. Delivery should be within three to four weeks. Tiekotter Rites Are Pending Services and visiting hours are pending for Eunice L. Tiekotter, who passed away at her home in Omaha, Saturday, February 16, at the Caldwell Funeral Home, where arrangements are being made. of the Farmers' Livestock Shipping Association and later' manager of the Farmer's Grain Association.

He died in 1928. Two sons and a daughter also died previously. Mrs. Curry was a healthy woman up until her last year. She had lived with her daughter, Mrs.

Services Are Held For Doris Weight Funeral services were held Saturday at the Crawford-Reeves Chapel for Doris Marie Weight, 68, who died Feb. 12 at Methodist Hospital, Omaha. The Rev. Eugene Mockabee and The Rev. J.

W. Taenzler officiated. Chester Forney, Dan Jackson, Lawrence Johnson, Dale Jackson, Gerald Hindman, Maxin Bachler were pallbearers. Interment was a the Tabor Cemetery, Tabor, Iowa. Doris Weight was born May 5, 1905 at Tabor, Iowa to Andrew and Lillie Elwell Bachler.

In 1922 she married Harry Morris. He died in 1924. On Dec. 29. 1927, she married Arthur W.

Weight at Rockport, Mo. She is survivied by her husband, Arthur and a son, Burman of Plattsmouth. She was a member of the Plattsmouth First Christian Church. Crawford-Reeves, Tabor, Iowa had charge of arrangements. Police Fire Rescue.

Eledge Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 14 at the Lefler United Methodist Church in Omaha for Wesley H.

Eledge, 82, of Omaha, who died Feb. Uth at Medicenter, Omaha. The Rev. Roger Kronholm officiated. Larry Eledge, Ronald J.

Eledge, Richard J. Eledge, Jerry Eledg, Milo K. Peterson and Henry A. Kaffenberger were pallbearers. Interment was at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth.

Wesley H. Eledge was born October 24, 1891 in Mills County, Iowa. He resided in Plattsmouth for many years before moving to Omaha. He is survived by his wife Emma, three sons, Richard and Jack of Omaha, and Harold of Arvada, Colorado, three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Dora) Buechler and Mrs.

Leonard (Mildred) Peterson of Plattsmouth, Mrs. Lee (Clara) Mal-zahn ol Omaha, one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Barr of Plattsmouth, 13 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Crosby Kunold Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Farmers Should Tell Fuel Supplier Of Their Needs "The essential thing a farmer must do to help assure himself adequate fuel for agricultural production is tell his distributor how much he needs. Unless a local distributor or dealer knows what his farm customer requires," said John E. Goresser, Executive Director of the Cass County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, "That distributor can not take the necessary steps to get enough fuel for them." Informing the distributor becomes even more Important, if a farmer intends to increase his acreage or if he Resident Hears Word Of Niece's Death Eagle (Special) An Eagle resident, Mrs. Darlene Reynolds, the great-aunt of Cheryl Wright, 15, who had been missing since last October near Portland, Oregon, received word that the girl's body had been found In a wooded area 20 miles from Portland. Positive identification of the body was made by authorities who matched her dental records and identified some personal articles.

The case is still under investigation. RAY DE ROSIA couple have two children. The candidate is the owner of the Flying Enterprises Plattsmouth. Mr. De Rosia is a retired Colonel in the United states Air Force with 20 years service.

While on active duty, he was flying officer and computer management officer. Among his many memberships, the political hopeful is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, a director of the Cass County Historical Society, president of the Missouri Valley Morgan Horse Association, Plattsmouth Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Chamber retail division. The Society of the Pen and Sword (at UNO) and part-time announcer for KOTD radio. Mr. De Rosia has a major in political science at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he is pursuing a degree.

a Stubbendeck Promoted To Gunnery Sergeant Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii (FHTN C) Feb. 6 Marine Gunnery Sergeant Norman W. Stubbendeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman O.

Stubbendeck of Elmwood, was promoted to present rank while serving at the Marine Corps Air Station here. A 1964 graduate of Elmwood High School, he joined the Marine Corps in May 1964. wants to expand dairy, poultry, or other farm operations. Local dealers will need this information to request additional fuel from their suppliers. Groesser said, "Agricultural producers who are all to receive priority allocations, will be required to certify to an ongoing fuel conservation program on their operations.

USDA, in cooperation with the Federal Energy Office and the Environmental Protection Agency, has developed a conservation leaflet. This leaflet, scheduled to be available in early March, includes an energy management certification that there is an ongoing conservation program and that priority fuel will be used for 'Agricultrual Production'." Catholic Education Week St. John's School is observing Catholic School Week Feb. 17-23. An Open House has been planned for Friday.

On that day the students, parents and faculty members will celebrate the Eucharist together ai Si. John The Baptist Church at 8:45 a.m. The school doors will be open to the community from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served In the School Library.

The school address Is 324 North Fifth Street. Over 150 person attended the Open House at the Plattsmouth Community Schools Vocational Center last Thursday evening in observance of Vocational Education Week. Visitors were given an opportunity to view projects which students make while attending the Center. Visitors also had an opportunity to visit with students and staff regarding the program. Mrs.

Evelyn Lavaty, administrative consultant for the special vocational needs of the State department of education, was one of the guests. She commented, "We definitely feel this is one of the best programs of this type in the state."
