1224 50- ffi M3M Mattie Elizabeth Rioth was born December 19, 1890, near Delavan, in Morris County, Kansas, to John Robert and Bertha May (Tebow) Stephenson. As a young child, she moved with her parents to Western Iowa and Eastern South Dakota. In 1901 the family moved to Kalispel, Montana, where they lived for eight years before returning to Morris County. On February 25, 1915, she married John Rioth, at Wilsey, Kansas. In 1920, with their small son, Lawrence Harold, they moved to Minnesota where they were active in farming and Northern Gospel Mission work.
With their sons, Lawrance and John Marion, they returned to Kansas in 1928 and continued farming and ministering near Wilsey. Mattie engaged in many community activities including 4-H project leadership, the Nimble Fingers Sewing Club, and teaching at Canning Creek Sunday School. This activity included managing the boys' winning baseball team, in which she took great pride. Later she became an avid Kansas City Royals fan. John and Mattie moved to Council Grove in 1943 and became active in the First Baptist Church.
A visitor to her home may have found her busy at quilting or other needlework, in Bible study, tending her African violets and other plants, but more than likely she would be serving someone other than herself. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and worker for her Lord. With the exception of an extended visit (1957-58) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Council Grove was her home until she moved to Ottawa in 1974, where she died May 8, 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, who died November 15, 1959, and by an infant grandson, J. Marion Rioth, Jr.

"At Wit's End" By Erma Bombeck You can tell a lot about a person just by how he or she gets up in the morning. You show me a woman who hears the alarm, reaches over, shuts it off and gets out of bed and I'll show you a wonderful woman with a practical head on her shoulders who is able to face reality. On the other hand, you show me a man who hears the alarm, pounds it senseless with his fist, resets it and shouts, "Ha! Ha! Scum! I lied to you last night.
I got another five minutes!" and I'll show you a lunatic. There are some people in the world who refuse to give in to routine. They should never marry and above all should never have children. Although most infants have healthy feet, about 40 percent of American children develop foot ailments by age 6. Most foot problems are minor and can be easily treated. Swimming Pools LIFETIME GUARANTEE For Over 25 Years McKEE'S 1314 N.W. 2nd, Abilene 913-263-2141 Council Grove Phone 767-5003 to hear an alarm go off four or five times in a single morning? It's like sleeping in a bus station. People who can't get up in the mornings have an entire metabolism that is out of sync.
The only time my husband ever left home was at the Cincinnati zoo when we walked into a house for nocturnal animals. His eyes adjusted to the pitch dark within seconds and as he. looked at the hamsters, bats and owls, he said sadly, "Why can't it be this way for me?" Night people go through their lives bumping into the shower, grappling for the soap, shaving with the wrong aerosol can, stabbing at their eggs and kissing anything that stands still goodbye. When the sun goes down they come to life. They're animated, bright-eyed, make phone calls, cook, play games, play with the dog and consider Carson "prime time." Their lives would be a visit to Shangri-la were it not for that small clock by the bedside with an alarm that shatters their sleep like a knife twisting in their eyeballs.
It is their only natural enemy and stands between them and five more minutes of morning slumber. The other night as I slept, I opened one eye to the room flooded with light. My husband sat playing with the alarm clock. Finally, he laughed and turned off the light. "What's so funny?" I asked.
"I've really put one over on it this time," he said. "I set the alarm for 3:30. And here's the kicker! I didn't turn the alarm on!" The man is certifiable. Copyright 1982 LADY NAMES WOMAN AS RUNNING MATE Topeka (AP)--Calling it time to give women a stronger voice in state government, House speaker Wendell Lady Monday named state representative Karen Griffiths, Newton, as his lieutenant-governor running mate, in his bid for the Republican nomination for governor. Griffiths, a 29-year-old lawyer, has served three sessions in the Kansas House.
She said she considered her experience and qualifications far more important than either her gender or her age. She became the first woman running mate for either the GOP or Democratic nomination since Kansas began electing governors and lieutenant governors as a team in 1974. Mrs. Marian Jackson, Eureka, was the lieutenant-governor running mate of Frank Shelton on the American party ticket in 1978. The Israel Defense Forces is the only army in the world which has designated a recruit as a full-time magician to entertain its troops.

Terms: Cash Not responsible for accidents NELLIE SCOTT, OWNER DALE SCOTT; AGENT REST AND REFRESHING Did You 1. The Bible calls the baptism of the Holy Spirit a REST and a REFRESHING? Is. 28:11, 12 "For with stammering Hps and another tongue will he speak to this people.
To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to REST; and this is the REFRESHING: yet they would not hear." 2. When the Apostle Paul was giving advice by the Holy Ghost concerning the manifestation of the Holy Ghost, he quoted Is. 28:1 1 Yes, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a REST and a REFRESHING. 3. "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and PEACE, and JOY In the Holy Ghost" (Rom.
We must have the Immersion of the Holy Spirit to be IN the Holy Spirit. Without that, we cannot be IN Christ (Rom. 4. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find REST unto your souls" (Matt.
11:28, 29). Yes, Jesus will give you rest for your soul. An inner peace and refreshing that you don't have right now. 5. "But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot REST, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
There is no peace, sailh my God, to the wicked" Is. 57:20, 21. 6. Are you bound up In sin, my dear reader? Has someone tried to deceive you by telling you that all must live every day in sin? No, yon cannot continue in sin (Rom. 6:2) and be saved.
You must be delivered today from sin. To do this, you need the power of the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8, 2:4, One cannot simply skip over the Book of Acts and go from the Gospels to the Letters to the (already saved) churches. We miss the plan of salvation that way. 7. We speak openly to the world.
We are willing to sincerely discuss or debate the true plan of salvation with any organized religious group in Morris county. You need this REST and REFRESHING.
