Sunday in the wake of a wave of tornadoes that swept through northeast Georgia over the weekend, killing at least nine CHICAGO (AP) Soybeans advanced the allowable limit for one session on the Chicago Board of Trade Monday. In the soybeans pit, it meant a gain of IS cents a bushel. Wheat futures closed nearly 9 cents higher while corn advanced nearly 5 cents and oats more than 2 cents.

The nationwide meat boycott had no apparent effect on futures here. The buying in the soybeans was motivated by several factors. The United States reportedly was ready to extend Russia short term credit of up to three years on the purchase of soybean oil. Some improvement in the price of soybean meal in Europe and a good demand for beans here also figured in the buying. Soybeans and meal quickly touched limit gains.

The weather in the Midwest and South also was a buying factor in soybeans as well as in corn and oats. Recent rains have caused flooding in some section that has covered farm land, stalling spring field work. Corn prices moved up 5 cents and oats 2V4 cents in the first few minutes, then main tained near-top levels into the close. Commercial selling was light in both pits. The weather over last wee kend in the Southwest was a buying factor in the wheat pit, but the trade also viewed some improvement in export business.

Heavy short covering was noted in wheat as prices ad vanced. At the close, soybeans were up 15 cents, May 5.53; wheat was 5V4 to 834 higher, May 2.28 V4; corn was Vh to 4 high er, May 1.59 V4 and oats were 1 to 24 higher, May 84 Ms cents. NX. Indians Demand Meet With NCCIA RALEIGH (AP)-Gov. Jim Holshouser received a telegram Monday demanding a meeting of the North Carolina Commission on Indian Affairs "to consider a list of demands formulated by the Tuscarora Indians" of Robeson County.

The telegram, signed by Tuscarora Chief Howard Brooks of Pembroke.was received in the governor's office Monday afternoon. Gubernatorial press aide Jack Childs said the matter was under study but no action had been taken by Holshouser. In the telegram Brooks said: "I herewith resctfully demand that you convene by executive order North Carolina Commission for Indian Affairs on Wednesday April 4 to consider list of demands formulated by the Tuscarora Indians and to arbitrate all problems currently facing the Indians of Robeson County. "I make this request in order that a violent confrontatiwn be forestalled. A speedy response will be appreciated." Childs said the statutes creating the commission specified that it could be called into special session by the chairman or by a petition signed by a majority of its members, subject to 10 days notice.

Meanwhile, Robeson County authorities pressed their investigation into a scries of unexplained fires that have destroyed more than 35 tobacco curing barns and other buildings in the past month. The fires coincided with demonstrations and protests by Indians seeking federal recognition as Tuscaroras, but authorities said they have found no connection. Two men were arrested during the weekend on charges of unlawfully burning a barn. The other fires remained under investigation. The Dow Jones average of 30 industrials fell 14.83 to Volume on the Big Board was a very light total of 10.66 million shares, the NYSE's lowest volume since Oct. 9 when it was 7.95 million. Some brokers said the low volume and the declining prices reflected Wall Street's fears that President Nixon was not doing enough to fight inflation and bolster the economy. Market prices had a four-day rally last week, then dropped sharply Friday after the President's speech Thursday night announcing meat price ceilings at the wholesale and retail levels.

Part of the rally was to make up for the previous week's sharp declines, but analysts said it also was caused by a brightening economic outlook that preceded the President's speech. The most-active issue on the Big Board was Continental Oil, dosing down 17 at 3W-. Continental is involved in the Alaskan pipeline but began declining Friday after a brokerage house lowered its estimate of the company's earnings. Other issues negatively affected bv the Supreme Court ruling were Atlantic Richfield, down 4 to 74, and Standard Oil of California, off to 82V Fairchild Camera was off 24 to 44T after negative analysts' reports on the semiconductor industry. C. (AP)-In-surance adjusters Monday sought to estimate the monetary damage of a savage tornado which killed six persons, injured at least 18 and damaged or destroyed about 165 homes. A spokesman for the American Insurance Association in Atlanta said teams of adjusters from other states were sent to stricken Abbeville County but it will probably be Tuesday before a preliminary estimate of damage is available. It is expected to run into the millions. Gov.

John West, meanwhile, said he will fly to Washington Tuesday to appeal for federal aid. "We're going to ask the President to declare it a disaster area, with all that that implies," West said in an interview at Aiken.where he spoke at the dedication of a $2.4 million technical education center. About 400 persons were left homeless. Declaring the county a disaster area would allow property owners to apply for low-cost federal loans to rebuild or replace destroyed homes, equipment and crops. West had surveyed the damage in a helicopter tour Sunday.

The tornado struck Saturday night and left a path of destruction 25 miles long and 100 miles wide from Calhoun Falls to the town of Abbeville. The area is in northwestern South Carolina along the Savannah River, dividing line between South Carolina and Georgia. In addition to the six killed, three men had been listed as missing because their cars were parked at a motel near Calhoun Falls which was destroyed by the twister. However, Abbeville County Sheriff S. B.

Cann Jr. said Monday the three men had been located and were not injured. GENEVA (AP) Wanted: a new national anthem for Switzerland. The first died of an overdose of pathetic prose and the second is in a state of agony.

Iast week, a No. 3 candidate was presented by composer Paul Burkhard, whose "Oh, My Papa" has become as much of a Swiss trademark as watches, chocolate and yodeling. Chances are that there will be tough competition. A nationwide contest is on this spring. In two previous contests during the past 50 years or so, more than 700 composers have tried in vain to write a hymn that would take roots in a country where singers' associations rival parties as a force in politics.

Actually, the first anthem was quite popular for decades. The melody for "Rufst du Mein Vaterland" If You Call Me, My Fatherland was adapted from "God Save the Queen." Swiss neutrality was guaranteed, at least for some time, as the German Kaiser's anthem was sung to the same tune. But after two World Wars, the Swiss seemingly grew tired of singing even in facing the fatal So, in 1961, the government decided on a replacement. It picked Schweizerpsalm Swiss Psalm written in the 19th century by a Capucine friar. It was introduced on a "three-year experimental basis." The test was never offi cially called off although it failed to stir any enthusiastic response.

There was hardly an outcry of indignation when playwright Friedrich Duerren-matt published a bitter critique of the Swiss Psalm that spoke of Switzerland's "unshaken belief in tank secrecy" and asked "what has become of you, my country?" Early this year, a Con servative deputy brought the issue up in parliament, com plaining about the "almost ern barrassing religious fervor" of the Moreover, he com plained, the complicated melody resulted in "such pitiful singing that we should drop the anthem as soon as possible. There was little dissent..
