A I.ay-Oiit for the lioys. The people of SMppensburg, who may well be proud of Messrs. Noftsker, Beddig. Morningstar and Shover, are just as wild over base ball as we are, and their one longing desire was to beat Chambersburg. They got it yesterday, and on the return of the bovs last evening the entire association was invited to stop off and partake of a supper gotten up in honor of the victory.

They were escorted to the Sherman house, where they partook of an elegant supper, and enjoyed themselves in speech-making and going oyer the incidents of the ime. Leary vas the object of special attention, ard was looked upon by the ids as being a "much oigger man than old Grant." They were also serenaded by the band and cheered by the entire ulatiou. Don't fail to hear the Ilotchkin family on next Thursday evening. The following is a testimonial from liev.

J. N. Hays, pastor of the Central Presbyterian church, Allegheny city and well known in the Cumoeriand alley. The Ilotchkin family have given two entertainments in the Central Presbyterian church, Allegheny city, or which 1 am pastor, to the great delight of their audi, ence. The musical power of all the chil dren and especially of Miss Annie is simply wonderrui.

The itertamments in them selves were thoroughly chaste, and unob jectionable every particular just such entertainments as should be encouraged by Christian people. The Fair Yesterday. The attendance at the fair yesterday was the largest tor years, upwards ot 10,000 people being on the grounds. A great many distinguished persons were present, comprising the governor and his cabinet, the speaker of the house, and members of the legislature. Interest was centered in the races, and the track three-fourths of the way around was crowded, three and four deep.

The favorite in all the races won, but the time made was not what the win ning horses were capable of. Tne running races are the most interesting, and we believe the management would be doing a good thing to offer a first-class purse for a race of this kind. The management wear very smiling faces over the success of the fair, the re ceipts ot yesterday being at least twenty-five hundred dollars. For once we have had delightful weather, which no doubt helped to swell the amount taken in. The base ball match to-day is expected to draw a good crowd.

The announcement from the judges' stand of the result of the game at Chambersburg yesterday was receive! with joyful races and loud applause. THE RACES. Purse No. 5. Eunning race-half mile heats.
