Will Housh of, Maple Hill visited his nephew and family, Mr and Mrs A Miller and family a few hours Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs John Campbell and son of Manhattan spent the week end at the Alfred Campbell home. Lawrence Strouts was also home over the week end.

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garretson attended a sale at Brookville Saturday. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Becker and Pamela were Sunday dinner guests at the Robert Young home. Mr.

and Mrs Bean spent Sunday afternoon at the Edwards home. They, are moving on what is known at the Goms place and Mr Bean will work for Mr Edwards. Mr and Mrs Alfred Campbell, Mr and Mrs John Campbell and son and Mrs Fanny Henderson were Sunday dinner guests at the Campbell home. The gathering was in honor of Mr and Mrs Ralph Campbell and son of Hug-oton. Mrs A Miller Rebecca and Erva Jane visited at the Hamilton home in Council Grove Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Miller called there awhile. Mr and Mrs Homer Garretson and sons spent Sunday evening at the Russell Sanford home. A Miller and Howard Strouts met with Richard Hensley Monday evening in the interest of the school work. We understand Mr and Mrs Leo Horton have purchased the Ural Lindquist, the former Robert Les ter, place and will move on it soon.

We welcome Mr and Mrs Horton to our community. Mr and Mrs Edwards spent Sunday evening at the A Bocook home. KNOCKED FROM ROAD Salina A car driven- by Sgt Floyd Clites of the army air base struck the Geo Puryear car in passing, hurled it off the road and onto its side. The (soldier admitted he had taken a few drinks and was traveling 60 miles an hour. His car ran 300 feet being coming to a halt in a field off the road.

Sadie McKinney spent Friday afternoon with Mrs Erman Garr. Mr and Mrs Blythe went to Kansas City last Thursday. They were accompanied by Mr artd Mrs John Blythe and family. They all returned on Friday except Mrs G. W.

Blythe Who remained until Monday. Walden Ingmire sold milk cows to Eather Pigmon and Bernard Werner recently. Mrs John DeLuca and Vicki came Saturday to visit at the Russell Pretzer home. Miss Helen Blythe is spending a few days with her parents Mr and Mrs Blythe. Mr Blythe and Helen were Sunday dinner guests atthe John Blythe home.

Mr and Mrs Joy Brittain attended the Jesse Myers funeral services at Parkerville on Monday. Ernest Phelps purchased ensilage from Marion Parker recently. Mrs Erman Garr's children all called on her some time during the day Sunday in honor of her birthday which occurred later in the week. They also celebrated Mrs Dale Gaston's birthday. Mrs Roy' Rader recently purchased a new vacuum cleaner and a number of attachments for it.

Mr and Mrs Earl Hermstein were in Junction City Tuesday. GILLESPIE Geo. Karns and family on their route to Wichita called on his brother Karns and Mrs Karns Sunday morning. Frank Hebrank attended the teacher and board meeting last Saturday. Mrs.

Mr and Mrs Allen Boyce and family and Mrs Chas Birt visited at the Carroll Wray home Sunday afternoon.

Mrs Griesmer spent Wed-1 nesday afternoon with Mrs Holzhey. Allen Boyce, Frank Hebrank, Lee Cunningham helped John Snod-grass thresh this week. Olen Young did the threshing. Mr and Mrs Clydev Carter went to Wichita Saturday for a two days visit with their daughter Maxine. Mr and Mrs Joe Phelps and daughter of City came Saturday evening to attend the Golden wedding anniversary of the lat-ter's parents, Mr and Mrs C. M. Stiver. They returned to their home Monday morning.

The Christian Church Missionary Society' met Friday afternoon at Jhe home of Mrs. Ruth Evans. Devotionals were led by Mrs Delia Parks, and Mrs Lillie Fay had charge of the program lesson. Mrs Lizzie Sisson and Mrs Nettie Eland assisted the hostess in serving lunch. Mrs Bobbie Miller and Connie Rose of Bloomburg, and Helen and Martha, sisters of Mrs.

Miller of Salina, were called here the past Week by the serious iff- ness of their uncle, A. R. Sisson, who is in the Council Grove hospital. Mr and Mrs Lew Bullock and children of Kansas City spent the week end here at the Roy and Or-ville Bullock homes. Miss Eula Mae Duff of Wichita spent Saturday night and Sunday with her parents, Mr and Mrs Royce Duff.

Mr. and Mrs Clifford Edwards and children and Mr and Mrs Willis Edwards and family of near Council Grove spent Sunday at the Steve Edwards home. Mrs Will Trostle and son of Council Grove, residents of this a number of years ago, attended services at the Christian Church Sunday morning. Mrs A Hinshaw returned to her home here Saturday after having spent the winter in Kansas City with her daughter, Mrs Elsie Brady. She was accompanied here by Mrs Brady, who visited relatives until Tuesday.

The S. E. Arc of the M. Church held their regular meeting Friday at the home of Mrs. Mae Stiver.

Mr and Mrs Ralph Campbell spent Friday at KSAC in Manhattan. The Red Cross program which had been postponed the previous week, was presented at the grade school building Wednesday evening by the various school districts. Mr and Mrs Frank Brown and son Fred, Mr and Mrs Lawrence Brown of Kansas City were week end visitors at the Jim Brown home. Sunday guests also included Mr and Mrs John Veal and Doris of Diamond Springs, and Herschel Reaves, a nephew of Mr Brown, also of Kansas City. Guests Sunday at the Shu-bert home were Mr and Mrs Marion Rioth and daughter Malonne of Council Grove, Mr and Mrs Gilbert Koepsil of White City, Chas.

Otis of Herington, Mr and Mrs Marion Shubert and Larry, and Russell Shubert. The occasion celebrated the birthday anniversaries of Vera Rioth and Gilbert Koepsil. Mr and Mrs F.Hiskey of Council Grove and Timberlake of Paul, a brother of Mrs Hiskey, spent Friday at the home of Mr and Mrs Griffiths. Dwain Babst and Junior Phillips are receiving the degree work in the IOOF Lodge. KAHOLA VALLEY The sunshine was a welcome visitor.

Miss Dorthea Mackenthun of Detroit, Michigan, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mackenthun. Mr. and Mrs.

Lawrence 'Harris spent Thursday evening at J. E. Hedgespeths. Mrs. Flora Brown and Mr and Mrs Walter Hensley and family and Dorothy Walker of Wilsey visited at the I Hedgespeth home Sunday.

Mr and Mrs Jr Baker and Mr and Mrs James Hedgespeth attended a lecture in Council Grove Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mackenthun and Dorthea and Miss Margaret Edwards were trading in Council Grove Saturday. Mrs.

Laurence Harris and mother Mrs Hallar were trading in Emporia Friday. TT A 3 spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs Loren Boman. Mr. and Mrs.

Gene Prichard spent Wednesday evening with Mr and Mrs Herbert Anderson and family. Mr and Mrs Herbert Anderson spent Tuesday evening with Mr and Mrs Jr Baker. Mr. and Mrs. William Edward were trading in Dunlap Saturday night.

1 Mr Warren Anderson is back in the community and getingt ready to do his farming. Mr and Mrs Hedgepeth and Linda and Ralph spent Sundav at I Hedgespeth. Mrs. Prichard returned home Monday after a visit with her daughter and family, Mrs. Wilbur Shaffer of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Don Blanton was a Sunday afternoon caller at the Leslie Blanton home. Mr and Mrs Oral Weeks and family spent Sunday afternoon with Mr and Mrs Cowdin. Mr and Mrs Leslie Blanton called at Sam Blantons Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Raymond Loig, Larry and Leslie were in Junction City Wednesday. Mrs.

Leslie Blanton spent Tues day evening at the Sam Blanton home while Leslie and Mr Blanton attended the telephone meeting at the school house. School Notes Perfect spellers last week were Kirt Gentry, Re Blanton, Charles Eissler, Harold Hohn, Ilene Weeks, Edwin Blanton, Geraldine Gentry, Joyce Miller, Ruby Blanton and Dawn Nace. There was no school last Wednesday because of the state tests at Dwight. Anna Mae Weeks was absent Friday. Lespedeza for sale, home grown, 98 germination, 9c a pound.

Quince Dains was quite sick Saturday morning and Dr. Miller was called. Manual Koepsil hauled two fat hogs to the Community Sale Saturday for Elba Timm.

R. Worley had his car break down Friday. He waslucky to get used parts. It happened at Floyd Youngs and Floyd helped him fix it. Babe Jacobs left his tractor and hay rack load of his belongings at Q.

Dains Monday night as it got dark. Floyd Young hauled in another load of his belongings on the 25th. The men who are moving the Huffman house to the Cowman farm near Council Grove landed in their airplane in Q. Dains pasture when they came to see Lindsay Rochat about helping them. The house movers broke the clutch in the engine of the main truck at Q.

Dains drive-in on the 25th. They went to Salina and got repairs and got it fixed and went on the next day. Bill Eckstrum, the assessor, was in this vicinity Tuesday. Quince Dains got baled alfalfa hay at Lindsay Rochats Tuesday. Babe Jacobs got his tractor and load Tuesday evening.

Elba Timm and Manual went out to Millers near Delavan Monday and bot a thorobred Hereford bull. It was trucked in. Walt Hudson of Wilsey was at Quince Dains Tuesday afternoon to see the house movers. R. Worley went to his dads on business Monday.

Gene Rochat is on the sick list this week, after being chief cook for the rest while they had the flu. The Community program came off Friday evening with the surprise numbers. Seme visitors were out. All enoyed the evening and the eats. The 7th and 8th graders took the examinations last Wednesday.

No school for the rest of the children. Happy Sherer is assisting Worley burn pasture, etc. Mrs. Rochat, Mrs. John Dike and Mrs Leo Dike went to the Farm Bureau meeting at the Grove.

Mrs. Rea Worley will entertain the Sewing Club Thursday afternoon. Most everyone around here attended Mrs. Stephens funeral on the 19th. We extend pur deep sympathy, also to the Edgar Daum relatives.

DISTRICT VFW MEET Burlington Members of Foreign War Vets and their auxiliary will begin a 2-day district meeting here Saturday. The meeting will open with a Saturday night dance followed by schools of instruction, a joint meeting between the two groups and a banquet Sunday.
