Entering the fourth quarter, Milledgeville held a slim 63-62 lead. In the previous three periods, the closely-fought contest had been tied on 15 occasions and the lead had changed hands 16 times. After Bronco forward Fred Huber scored two free throws to open the final stanza, Messinger went the elongated to work. He tallied seven of the next 11 Orangeville points to put his squad safely in front, 76-63.

Survived Rally With 3:15 left in the fourth quarter, Bob Donegan connected for a field goal for Milledgeville's first points in the final stanza. Milledgeville continued its rally in the waning moments, but the Broncos led by Messinger's final six points held their own to win, 86-77.
