Local The Jounal Tmes FfWery Xt 16. 20CA rtQ Pee V.Yxrxf OD Man charged with possessing stun gun Journal Times staff ID II I i 3iArw fc.f vV HS ir 5 RACINE The package on the stun gun in Richard Mag den's van stated it was legal to carry in most states. What it didn't say was Wisconsin isn't one of them. Magden, 39, 1014 Main Union Grove, was charged Tuesday with possession of an electric weapon, a felony. He was also charged with operating while intoxicated, causing injury, according to Racine County Circuit Court records.

Magden had been in the parking lot at Culligan Water Treatment in Union Grove the night of June 17, talking with friends. Magden was revving the engine in his van when it lurched forward and knocked one of his friends down. The man's head hit the pavement and started to bleed. Magden said he would take him to the hospital, according to court records. Not long after, a Racine County sheriffs deputy pulled Magden over at Highway 11 and Interstate 94.

According to court records, Magden appeared to be drunk and the deputy arrested him. While searching the van, the deputy found the stun gun. Magden was released from the Racine County Jail Tuesday on a $2,500 signature bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 29. If convicted, Magden could face up to six years in prison, a year in jail and $12,000 in fines.
