Eieanaba, Michigan Page Three Police Arrest Theft Suspect Peter Milter, 21, 1213 Ludington wm arrested and charged with breaking and entering by City Police early this morning after he was identified by three witnesses. Officers alleged that Miller broke a window at the Bloom- etrom and Peterson jewelry and ran off with several Hems of jewelry. 20th told police officers that they heard the crash from the breaking glass and aaw a man, whom they later identified as Miller, running away and dropping items. The three witnesses picked up several rings and pins and brought them to the police station, where they reported the incident, officers said. Miller was arrested when he to the scene. He is currently in the Delta County Jail awaiting arraignment in District Court Tuesday at 2 p. m.

THYBERG'S, INC. By REV. PETER LAAN1NEN Bethany Luthran Church of Perkins will celebrate its 75th Anniversary this weekend. The congregation was organized on August 14, 1895, with 19 charter members and 21 children. They were organized as the Swedish Evangelical Bethany Lutheran Church.

Charter members were Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Carlson, Mr.

and Mrs. Peter DahJsten, Mr. Alex Dahlsten, Mr. and Mrs. John Hed, Mr.

and Mrs. John Nelson and daughter, Selma, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Norden, Mr. and Mrs.

Claus Olson and son, Marten, and Mr. and Mrs. Nels Satter strom. Met in Hemes The congregation first met in homes and in the school house which is presently the Perkins Town Hall. In 1903, the church building was constructed on land given to the congregation by Swen Hall.

The church building was dedicated Nov. 8, 1910. In 1935, an addition was made to the church which serves ae the fellowship hall. The Swedish language was used in the Mfe of the congregation from the very beginning. In 1931, English was used for the first time in the minutes of the congregation.

By 1939, English had replaced Swedish in all the areas of the life. Sunday School Started A Sunday School was started when the congregation was formed in 1895. It was active until 1918, when it ceased to function due to lack of children in the congregation. In 1933, the Sunday School was re-organized and has been an active part of the life since. A Ladies' Aid was organized by 1913.

In 1948, it became the Women's Missionary Society and then in 1963 became a charter member of the Lutheran Church Women of the Lutheran Church in America. During 75 years, Bethany has been served by 19 pastors. In the early years the congregation was served by pastors from Negaunee and Esc ana ba. From 1906 to 1963, the congregation was served by pastors from Gladstone. In 1963, the congregation joined with Faith First Lutheran Church.

Events Planned From its beginning, the congregation was affiliated with the Augustana Lutheran church. It is now affiliated with the Lutheran Church in America. The congregation now has 80 confirmed members and 38 baptised children. In celebrating the 75th anniversary, the congregation has planned the following events.

Among those bringing gretings will be the Rev. Clifford Peterson, former pastor of the congregation. An exhibit of historical items will also be on display. All former members and friends of the congregation are invited to attend. Schedules Set For Students eran Parish, which has been served by a resident pastor since that time.

Early this year, Escanaba Area Marching Band Rehearsals Start The Escanaba Area High School Marching Band will begin rehearsals at 8 a. m. Monday in the high school bandroom, Director John Chown announced today. All members of Jhe band are required to attend to prepare for the upcoming football Mason. The band will make its first home appearance Friday, Sept.

18, with pregame and halftime programs as the Eskymo football team faces SauU Ste. Marie. The band will be dressed in new uniforms, replacing the present uniforms which are 11' yeans old. On Sunday, the worship service will be held at 10:30 a. m.

Included as part of the service will be the dedication of the new addition which houses a kitchen, a heating plant, and rest room. Dr. Theodore Matson, president of the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan Synod of the Lutheran Church in America, will preach and conduct the dedication. The Anniversary Dinner will be served by the Women of Bethany at noon. LaCount, nine month old eon of Mr. and Mrs. Earl LaCount, of Lena, died suddenly Thursday afternoon. at St. Hospital in Green Bay.

He was born Oct. 26, 1969. Surviving besides his parents are his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy LaCount of Lena and his maternal grandparents, Mr.

and Mrs. John Kirschner of Spalding. Friends may call after 7 pm. today at the Soulek Funeral Home at Lena and a vigil service will be conducted at 9 p.m. today.
