She was responsible for a number of civic improvement programs, including the purchase and beauti- fication of Key Roujp and the initiation of the free school lunch program at Cornell School in the depression. In 1944, she was awarded an honorary life membership in the Sixteenth District of the Parent-Teachers Association, which then comprised all of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Mrs. North had been a member of the First Metho dist Church of Albany for 36 years, and for the past 17 years had been treasurer and financial secretary of the church. Before her marriage in 1913, she was an accredited teacher in Spokane, Wash.

After her marriage-she put: her teaching ability to use in the church Sunday school, and by teaching remedial courses to slow learning students in the local She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie G.
