Physicist Honored as Top Alumnus BERKELEY, Jan, 31-Dr. Burton J. Moyer, University of California professor of physics, has been named Seattle Pacific College's Alumnus of the Year. Dr. Moyer, co-discoverer of the neutral meson, a particle of the atomic nucleus, was cited by his alma mater "for "excellence in his field, loyalty to Seattle Pacific, and exemplification of the Christian ideals of the college." She was president of the Stanford Women's Gub in 1915 when they built their club house and was a co-founder of the Stanford Convalescent Home. She also was a founder and patron of the Palo Alto Junior Museum, a director of the Women's City Club of San Francisco and a chapter member of the Stan ford Associates. Her husband, regarded as one of the world's foremost authorities on Japan, is the author of eight books on the Far East. Their home is on the Stanford campus Funeral services were held today in Palo Alto. Mrs.

Harriet Lanktree SANTA ROSA, Jan. 31- Mrs. Harriet Lanktree, 101, niece of early American novel ist James Fenimore Cooper and widow of Oakland attorney Wilbur Lanktree, died here yesterday. Mrs. Lanktree, whose hus band once was counsel for the Key System, at one time taught school in Washington State.

She is survived by two Mrs. Sue Kenney of Santa Rosa and Mrs. Eliza beth Sampson of San Marino. Dorothy Coxen Final rites will be held for Dorothy H. Coxen at 1:30 p.m.

She was 58 Miss Coxen, a resident of Oakland and San Francisco for more than 25 years, lived at 3439 Guido St. She was Past Matron of Sterling Chapter No. 533 of the Order of Ameranth, and was a member of the Ladies Aux iliary, Post 1010, of the Vet erans of Foreign Wars.

444-Jan. HM20 mm uuuu Age of 72 Mjjs. Florence Colby Bat- tram, widow of a business machine executive and a musical composer of note, died here Sunday at the age of 72. Mrs. BattrarAi, a resident here since 1922, was the widow of Frederick Battram, a Remington-Rand executive who died here in 1945.

She lived at 1176 Sunnyhills Road. A graduate in 1909 of the Denver University, she took her master's degree in music in 1911 at Columbia University. Mrs. Battram won the San Francisco Patricia Mor-bio award in 1939 for her original composition of Hills." Mrs. Battram also a charter member and past secretary of the national Sigma Kappa Sorority; Berkeley Chapter of the National League of American Pen Women; Oakland branch of thet American Association of University Women; the Music Teachers of California and the First Unitarian Church of Oakland.

Survivors include two sec ond cousins, Lewis J. Colby of Sonoma and Wesley Trounson of Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Albert Brown Mortuary. Jack H. Helms Funeral services for Jack H.

Helms of 91 Sleepy Hollow Lane, Orinda, a Bay Area insurance executive for many years, will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Halsted 1123 Sutter San Francisco. Last rites will be conducted by Presidio Lodge No. 35 of the Masonic Order. Helms, 59, was vice presi dent and secretary of Johnson Si Higgins of California in San Francisco.

A graduate of the California Institute of Technology, he and his wife, Helen, had lived in the Bay Area since 1934. He died following a heart attack in New York City on Jan. 25. Gould John J. Gould, Bay Area "structural engineer and part ner in the firm of Gould and Degenkolb, died in San Fran Cisco yesterday of a heart at tack. He was 63. Jes sie McGilvray Treat, 79, wife of Professor Emeritus Payson Jackson Treat, who, formerly Board to Act on Principal Post The Oakland Board of Edu cation will act on a recom mendation today for the ap pointment of Dr. George Bliss, principal of Oakland Technical High School, as principal of the new hill area high school. The administration proposal calls for the appointment of Jack Borum, principal at Westlake Junior High School, to replace Bliss at Oakland Technical High. A veteran of 36 years with the Oakland schools, Dr. Bliss has worked as a teacher and administrator at Lockwood, John Swett, Grant, Sherman and Bret flarte schools.
