Has Day Without Rain By the Associated 1 Press There were wet spots across scattered sections in the north and in a few southern areas today but generally dry weather prevailed most of the nation. No severe weather was reported but it was a little chilly during the morning in some of the northern border states. Snow flurries peppered northern Minnesota, northern New England, the west-central Plains and the northern Rockies. Showery weather extended over the central Plains, the northern Great Lakes region and southern New England while thundershowers hit areas from northeast Texas eastward into Mississippi. Skies were mostly clear in much of the Southwest, including California and Nevada southeastward into central Texas.

Fair weather also was reported in Florida, the South Atlantic, states and parts of the southern Great Lakes gion. Temperatures' were in 30-40 degree range from the northern Great Lakes through the northern Plains into the northern Rockies. National Summary A stagnant weather front stretching across the southland during early morning was accompanied by showers or thundershowers from South Carolina into eastern Texas.

A few showers extended into Tennessee. Local heavy rain fell in Georgia and Alabama: Athens, Georgia and Tuscaloosa, Alabama received nearly front inches extending in six from hours. Occasional rain or shower activity is forecast for today from the Ohio arid middle Mississippi Valley into Michigan I and the eastern portions of the central Plains with snow likely to be mixed with the rain in upper Michigan. Showers or thundershowers are expected from the lower Mississippi Valley Into Tennessee and the Carolinas.

A few showers or snow flurries may occur over the mountains from Montana into Colorado while skies will continue to be mostly sunny during the day from the Pacific States through the southern Rockies into Oklahoma and western Texas as well as along the eastern seaboard from Virginia into New England and in the Florida peninsula. A warming trend is in store from Arizona and New Mexico into Idaho but cooler temperatures than yesterday are expected from the upper Mississippi Valley into the central Plains and in Carolinas. The low pressure center was charted about 700 miles west of the Oregon coast and moving northward this morning. Its weather front was about 250 miles west of the extreme Northern California coast. Student Injured In Headon Crash A St. Mary's College student is in critical condition at Providence Hospital today following a headon auto collision on Pinehurst Road near Redwood Road.

George J. Silvestri III, 19, is in fair condition suffering a punctured lung and other injuries. Police said he was northbound on Pinehurst yesterday afternoon, failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a car driven by Douglas 0. Freeman, 23, of No. 6 Roberts Court, Moraga, a service station operator.

Freeman's wife, Dorloha, 19, and daughter, Wendy, 15 months, and two St. Mary's students riding with Silvestri, Paul Uranes and John Fox, both 19, also were injured. L. Reardon, Ambulance Founder, Dies Funeral services will be held tomorrow for Charles L. Reardon, 86, Oakland ambulance firm founder, who died in a Berkeley hospital Tuesday after a short illness. A native of San Jose, Mr. Reardon was an Oakland resident for 70 years.

In 1923, he founded the Acme Ambulance Co. at 3242 Grove which was also his residence. Mr. Reardon was one of Oakland Tribune, Thursday, the oldest alumni of St. Mary's College and was a member of the St.

Mary's Alumni Association and of the Grand Lake Kiwaniz Club for the past nine years. Surviving is his sister, Mrs. Teresa Guye of Oakland, who has operated the ambulance firm since he retired in. 1945. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
