METRO THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14.2010 THE TAMPA TRIBUNE TBO.com METRO 'Momsense' comic to perform at conference of 10 or more. The mission is to bring women together to experience music, humor, drama and inspirational stories that leave a Renfroe about performing before thousands. "Are you kidding?" she says. "Give me a microphone and people who actually sit and listen to what I have to say. That's every mother's dream." And that wildly popular "Momsense" song? Renfroe has already followed it up with versions that parody advice given by dads and grandparents.

"These days, more than ever, we need humor," she says. "I believe in the power of faith, but you can't discount the power of laughter, too. The best part is that you don't have to cuss a blue streak to be funny." mbeardentampatrlb.com (813) 259-7613 For details on the gathering, call 1-888-493-2484 or go to womenoffalth.com. Anita Renfroe will appear at Women of Faith this -weekend BY MICHELLE BEARDEN mbeardentampatrib.com In just 24 hours, moms have plenty to say to their kids: Close your mouth when you chew. I thank you not to roll your eyes at me.

Were you born in a barn? Your iPod is my iPod. If all your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump, too? You don 't need a reason why. After 20 years of telling her three kids this stuff and more, Anita Renfroe could just about put it to music. So she did. Her three-minute "Momsense," sung to the "William Tell Overture" became a hilarious hit on subject matter is something we all understand." Renfroe says she always had an "internal party" going on in her head.

But being a Southern Baptist from Texas, she didn't feel it was appropriate to let it all out. The closer she got to age 40, the less repressed she felt. "That's the gift in aging. You care less about what people think of you," she says. Now she holds the distinction as one of the country's few female Christian comics.

Her material is plucked directly from her own life, first as a stay-at-home mom and now as a grandmother to one "perfect" grandchild and another on the way. She's in such demand that her husband retired from the pulpit and works as her road manager. She's never had any qualms YouTube (http:tbo.lyae3Kb7) and, millions of views later, the Atlanta mother and pastor's wife was a domestic superstar. "In my house, anything that had ever gone viral had a bad outcome," Renfroe, 48, says with a laugh. "But in the Internet world, I guess it's a good thing." Renfroe, who describes herself as a "clean comic," brings her brand of homespun humor to the Women of Faith "Over the Top" conference Friday and Saturday at the St.

Pete Times Forum. More than 4 million women have attended Women of Faith gatherings since they began in 1996. The Tampa stop, part of an 11-city tour this year, is expected to draw up to 10,000. Tickets are $99 for the two days and include lunch, with discounts for groups lasting impact. Besides Renfroe, the lineup this weekend includes Christian vocalist Sandi Petty, "American Idol" finalist Mandisa and Lisa Whelchel from the 1980s TV sitcom "Facts of Life." Now in her fifth year as a Women of Faith performer, Renfroe says she loves the single-gender audience.

"Face it, it's hard to make jokes about mammograms with men. They just don't get it," she says. "These events are just the girls getting together. And the October, according to the city of Tampa's Construction Services Center. The theme park applied a year ago to construct four buildings near an old sky ride loading platform maintenance area.

Since then, Busch Gardens has launched a website with videos of the ride-to-be at Chee tahhunt.com and started touting a few details through Facebook. This will be the park's first new coaster since SheiKra opened in 2005. Coaster from Page 1 different style than ultra-tall rides such as SheiKra. "This ride will give the feeling of zooming along, hugging the ground, similar to a cheetah sprinting through the grasslands," said Jim Dean, president of Busch Gardens and Adventure Islands. Over three quarters of a mile long, the coaster accelerates three times through a 3-minute, 25-second ride, up a 130-foot tower and then down ihto an underground trench, reaching a top speed of 60 miles per hour and pressure up to 4G's.

Degas exhibit coming to Tampa art museum It will include sculptures and paintings BY CURTIS ROSS cros5tampatrib.com TAMPA An exhibition of the works of French painter and sculptor Edgar Degas will open March 12 at the Tampa Museum of Art, it was announced Wednesday. The exhibit, "Degas: Form, Movement and the Antique," features a selection of the artist's bronze sculptures as well as paintings and drawings. Works from the museum's antiquities collection will be part of the display as well, says museum Executive Director Todd Smith. "The show is not only a celebration of Degas' works," Smith says. "It looks at the influence antiquities had on his career.

"We will be using works from own antiquities collection to help people understand the influence on his much more modern work," Smith says. "It's a very exciting moment for the museum," Smith says. "In a little over a year since opening, we will have presented two exhibitions of very important French artists who changed modem art." The museum opened in February with an exhibit of the works of Henri Matisse. "One of reasons we fought so hard to build a new home was for this opportunity to bring internationally known artists, both historical and contemporary, to the region," Smith says. used in "hypervelocity" collisions during military weapon research, for launching planes off aircraft carriers and pushing high-speed rail trains.

The Cheetah Hunt area will be a park-within-a-park of sorts at Busch Gardens, similar to the Sesame Street and Jungala areas. The park will have more up-close animal attractions nearby, keeping with the theme of the park's other newest environments. No firm date has been set for the ride's debut, but park officials said the ride area could open in May 2011. The park recently acquired its first two cheetahs from a preservation company north of Jacksonville, a 10-year-old female named Ngoma and an 11-year-old male named Steelman. Trainers are practicing with the cats sprinting along what will be a 300-foot cheetah run.

Ultimately, the park could have 15 cats and an active breeding program. Word of the new ride has been trickling out for nearly a year as construction permits became public and the park began leaking details through social media sites and ride-enthusiast blogs. Busch Gardens completed support pads for a coaster in In Orlando, the Busch Gardens-affiliate Discovery Cove will open a new area in June featuring all-day experiences beyond wading with sea life. "The Grand Reef will offer shallow to deep waters, artificial beaches and snorkeling trips among manmade reefs. For the more adventurous, there will be a "SeaVenture" underwater walking tour, at which visitors will wear dive helmets and step among sea life.

The Cheetah Hunt ride is among a new generation of launch-style coasters, including "Maverick" at Ohio's Cedar Point and others in Las Vegas. Unlike rides that winch a coaster up a slope with a clink-clink-clink, these rides start off on a nearly flat slope, and powerful magnets in sequence accelerate the train to full speed in seconds, giving the rider a feeling similar to riding in a dragster.
