Continental Band To Give Free Show United States Continental Band To Perform At Lincoln Jr. High The UnitedStates Continental Army Band will present a free public performance at the Lincoln Junior High School auditorium Sunday, May 21, at 8 The performance is being sponsored by the Military Af- fairs Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and the United States Army Recruiting Office. The United States Continental Army Band is an official touring musical organization sponsored the United States Army. The band has traditionally supported the official military functions of the United States Continental Army Command at Ft.

Monroe, Va. Concerts include compositions of famous composers, and popular melodies. The band was created in 1945 as the 50th Army Ground Forces Band at Camp Pickett, Va. Adapted by the U.S. Continental Army Command as its official musical representative, the band has operated for years Postal Sesame NEW YORK (UPI) -Public television stations WCVE in Richmond, and WCAE in St.

John, have received permission from local and postal officials to change their addresses to Sesame Street in honor of the popular television show which they broadcast. "We have become an instant celebrity since the change," reported Bill Sippler, vice president and general manager of WCVE. The band travels around the United States in a convoy of two buses and a truck. By limiting itself to this mode of transportation, residents of cities not having commercial airports are able to hear the band's concerts. CWO Byron L. Smith, commanding officer and conductor of the CONARC band, assumed command in 1971.

During the year, the band has performed before more 'than one million people, including the annual King Orange Festival Parade in Miami, and at Walt Disney World.
