Way (For fr P. lolt on informed, that, by the Will of the lata Mrs. Taylor of this city, provision is made for founding kit Orphan Axrluni for Racine County, and that the amount left for this purpose is at leart $130,000. Tbelate Isaac Taylor Is known to have intended to es tablish such an institution, but his ouddenj death did not permit him to carry out bis benevolent denlgn. The generous act of Mm.

Taylor, will aonunnuate the cherihed pro ject of her husband, and their name will hereafter recorded with those whoso memory shall never be forgotten. Mr. Tayle-r was born In a foreign country. aad ia boyhood was left homeless and poor. He had known the hardships that those suffer who struggle manfully in tlia race of life, with none to guide and few to befriend.

In England the hand of power and wealth lays heavy upon the poor and friendless. To such, if vicious the prison and if virtuous the workhouse, alone are open. There are no free schools except those provided for the rich and the influential. Poverty there i a curse which society does little to mitigate and noth ing to remove. II is childhood was uuchcered by kindness and hi earlier years were xpeut aiuid the poor and unfortunate, whom neg lect and ignorauce oi'tcti render imlidercnt as to the present, and hopele as to I lie future He was fortunate euuugh to receive aid from a farmer, for whom he had labored, which en abled him to reach a land here the oppress ed may find freedom and the poor obtain wealth.

Here he found all that he needed an opportunity to labor and a fair chauce in the world. His hands were not idle. Though his employment was humble at firt it was trorf and all work is honorable, if useful Of the struggles through which he passed during his early manhood we know little know, however, that he became a kind-hearted, sagacious buslueax man, and a public spirited and influential citisen. A man of warm sympathies and Inrpe wealth, he was not less ittteul upon umj than upon obtainiug wealth. lie never forgot, and used often tospeak of hi earlier years, ot'tlie poverty, the trials and uiinfoi times that his childhood, and he detcrmtued lo do all in his power to render others happier than he himself had been.

To found au institution for the protection, training and education of poor children became a cherished project 1th him, and it was his design to erect the build ing and carry out his design immediately when death deprived, the community of his services in rhis noble undertaking. But eh to whom he entrusted his wealth and who was in all respects worthy the confidence reposed in her, ha 'lone the work that her husband wished to be done, and the monument she has reared to his memory will tell to future ag of her own charities and christian character An event, so important as the founding of an institution for the education of the poor and friendless, will justify us in glancing at the character of the man whose forecast pro rided the means and whose goodness prompt ed the act. Mr. Taylor was a man of simple tasres and lie was generous and hospitable, but not vain nor ostentations. Affable to all, he neither sought nor avoided the society of the rich and influential.

He was alwavs careful of the feelings of the poor, and had ever kind word for the unfortunate. His charitie: like his life were unobtrusive, whi! be liberally to objects of a public kind, he pav more to those who would coTcr herald kindness. Cpon himself and for himself used little of his wealth, and seemed to I more anxious for the happiness of other than rfor his own. Neither wealth nor station could change the inbred genileness and kind a ais dears, or cause him for a moment lo forget that the claims of misfortune are al ways paramount. lie posessd a and an energy thit well fitted him to sin ce -1 in life.

As a man of business he was prompt, reliable and in every respect hunoruble. He cherished tbe honest, pride of always k-eping his word, and hence a simple promise to tlio ho knew him was always implicitly depended upon and never broken. His plan were comprehensive and laid with great care. ces in ii-ness was- not merely good titk it was the natural and necessary result of attention and energy. He was a ntiie.0 iu all rvsp'eMs above reproach, making at loud profe-flon of virtue he daily ut into practice tlue principle that are the bais of human goodness, aad when death caiue it was met with the calm fortitude that becomes a man who baa done his duty.

This noble act of charity on the part ol Mr. Taylor mut have a beneficial up the rich men of our Stale. It will commend itself to them, and lead them to do something to render mankind happier, alter their len factors have passed away. While the, people of the State have founded the benevolent institutions absolutely t-quired, there is still great need of homes for orphans, for the aged and the poor. These evidences of an advanced christian civilisation are scarcely found in our western States, hence, it is in view of the influence of this noble gift in inducing others to emulate the philanthropy that prompted it, that we wish to bring it prominently befure the public.

The memory of those who erect monuments of mercy and kindness shall never perish, and their good deeds are embalmed in the grati-tude of their race. Mrs. Tatlor's Will contains the following munificent bequests for public purposes besides about an equal amount distributed among relatives and friends. To Raeloe Colle, 65.000 Nashota Miatioo 6.000 Orphan Aiylam at Cleveland Ohio, 8.000 Bouse or ths rrleadless 1.000 Monad Cemetery, 8.U00 Trustees to kalld Orphan Aiylam In Kaclne, 80.000 Endow the Asytoat apvarda ef 100.000 Mrs. Taylor names in her Will the following ladies as Trustee to organize and establish the Asylum, vix Mrs.
