of Clarion avenue, entertained with a one-o'clock luncheon last Tuesday in honor of A VOICE FROM THE DEAD S. ARLENX EDWARDS. THE LOST MEZZO EN6RAVER. FINALLY SUO CEEDS IN SENDING HIS LATEST WORKS out of WAR'TORN BELGIUM THE Closson Store has just received, directly from S. Arlent Edwards, in Bruges, Belgium, two Mezzotints, his most recent work.

For many years Mr. Edwards has been famous throughout this country and Europe for his Remarkable color mezzo engravings. In 1914 he went to Europe with the intention of spending a year in the Old Country to secure new subjects. He was caught in Bruges, Belgium, at the outbreak of the war, where he has Seen for the past four years. He suffered untold hardships dur-ing the war several times being reported dead.

Mr. Edwards always has favored the Closson Galleries with his best works, and even though he was so many miles from here, he did not forget the Closson Store as soon as he was able to send something on. The two subjects just received the first of Mr. Edwards work to arrive in this country since he left for Europe are the LaDuca Madonna, after Raphael, and The Boy. in ink, after Albert Cuyp.

Both are full of the beautiful feeling which has characterized all of Mr. Edwards' work, but it is greatly intensified an'd even more appealing than ever, doubtless because of the great privations the artist has suffered during recent years and the grim scenes he has looked upon in the war-torn countries. The LaDuca Madonna is priced at the Boy in Pink at $50.00. The plates for both have been destroyed. Many of Mr.

Edwards' older pictures have trebled arid quadrupled in value, and it is certain that the present pictures because of their historical associations, because they are in the artist's best vein, and because so limited a number of proofs haTve been struck off will shortly be worth many times the prices now being asked. We earnestly ask that all Cincinnati Art Lovers accept this as an invitation to visit the Closson Store and see these remarkable pictures. They are now on display in the Closson Galleries on the first floor. MARBLE GARDEN FURNITURE FROM ITALY A LIMITED number of new marble benches, tables and fern boxes, just received from Florence, are now on display. These are the first pieces of this ware shown since the beginning of the war.

All are elaborately hand carved, being productions of famous Italian works of Art of the earliest periods. If you can use one or more pieces of this ware on your lawn or porch or in your home, we urge that yoti come in early, as there are very few pieces available.
