Burial will be Monday. He was born March 8, 1938, in Belmont, to Clyde and Mary Burgess. He married Patricia Montjoy on July 5, 1975, in Rock Island. He retired after 29 years at John Deere Foundry, East Moline. He was a faithful church member of Derrick's Temple, Rock Island, where he served on the Deacon Board for more than 40 years.

He loved nature; he would feed the birds and the squirrels. He spent his free time collecting and recycling. He will be remembered as a person who was a friend to everyone, a stranger to no one, and loved to talk. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Burgess; daughter, Hope Burgess, Hoffman Estates, sister, Alberta Thomas, Belmont, brother, Travis Burgess, Kewanee. He was preceded in death by both parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Dale Heitzman Dale Heitzman, 88, of Moline and Bradenton, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at his resi- dence. Funeral services will be noon Saturday, Nov. 1, at South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island.

Burial will be at Warren Memorial Park, Monmouth. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to South Park Presbyterian Church, Trinity Hospice or charity of choice.

Dale was born Nov. 4, 1919, in St. Jose, the son of Fred and Gladys Siegrist Heitzman. He married Adelaide "Addie" Marshall on March 12, 1955, in Monmouth. She preceded him in death on April 29, 1996.

He married Robbie Shoemaker on July 17, 1999, in Rock Island. Dale graduated from Bradley in 1949 with a degree in industrial engineering. He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire, Peoria, then came to the Rock Island Arsenal in 1955 and worked in Headquarters ARCOM, retiring in 1980. Dale was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, NARFE, Bradley Alumni Association, T.P.A, Pinewood-Ironwood Golf Association in Bradenton, and was a past member of the former Mill Creek Golf Club, Milan. He was a loving, family-oriented person who enjoyed being with his extended families and many friends from over the years.

Survivors include his wife, Robbie; children, Patti Heitzman, Loves Park, Terry Heitzman, Concord, Kenn (Kathy) Shoemaker, Silvis, Dawn (Blair) Gorsuch, Peoria, and Dr. Craig (Janet) Shoemaker, Dallas, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan Fusselman, Alamo, Isabel Marshall, Monmouth; and aunt, Dorothy Farnam, Manito, Ill. and E. Alleyne Bovey Millar. She married Frank L. Keesler on Sept. 19, 1945.

He preceded her in death on April 20, 1992. During World War II, Betty worked for the Rationing Board. She later went to work as an executive secretary at John Deere in Moline, retiring about 1976. Betty was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island. She also had held memberships in the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 274, Coal Valley, Daughters of the Nile Pyramid Temple No.

Kaaba Shrine Widows, the International Order of King's Daughters Sons, and the Deere Retirees. Betty enjoyed traveling and spending winters at her Palm Harbor, villa. She was an avid golfer, belonged to several bridge clubs, and was an excellent seamstress. She greatly enjoyed the time spent with her family. Survivors include her brother, L.

Dean Millar, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and greatgreat-nieces and great nephews; and her friend since childhood, Dorothy Woods Suss, South Carolina. In addition to her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Bob and Bill Millar, preceded her in death. Randall Sorrells Randall "Randy" Sorrells, 52, of Moline, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, in Texas, as a result of a vehicle accident. Rock Island Raymond Meyers Raymond C. Meyers, of Wentzville, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Oct.

22, 2008, at the age of 90. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, St. Charles, Mo.

Interment was at St. Charles Memorial Gardens. Ray was a pilot for Ozark Airlines for 26 years and a member of the Silver Swallows of Ozark. Ray is a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He was a flight instructor, ferried fighter planes and bombers, and flew cargo over the hump in the China-IndiaBurma Theater. He was the husband of Bettie Meyers; son of the late Walter B. and the late Lula Meyers; father of Jackie (Tom) Schmersahl, Ray (Tonya) Meyers grandfather of Jenna (Tony) Martucci, Trisha (Wade) Walters, Justin Meyers and Andrew Meyers; great-grandfather of three; brother of Carol Budsell and Lila DeSmet. He was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Philadelphia, to George and Claudine Yearsly Gardner. He married Linda Piester on July 22, 1970. Copeland Heitzler. She was educated in Hooppole Grade and High School. She was a graduate of Prophetstown High School and attended business college in Davenport. She married Lowell P. Houch on April 5, 1945, in Birmingham, Ala.

He died May 30, 1969. She then married Donald Bomleny on Nov. 10, 1973. She was employed by Yorktown Lumber and Grain, Yorktown, Ill. Later she worked for Hooppole Lumber and Grain.

She also was a correspondent writer for the Moline Dispatch, Sterling Gazette and Kewanee Courier. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Eureka, a member of the Hooppole American Legion Auxiliary and she was secretary of the Maple Lawn Auxiliary. Lucille enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and gardening.

Survivors include her two sons, William "Bill" (Mylene) Houch, Peoria, James "Jim" (Debra) Houch, Eureka; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Houch and Justin (Jennifer) Houch, Melissa Hall, Mitchell dren. Houch; She two great was preceded in death by her first husband; and one brother, Richard Heitzler. Rae Jean Hultgren Rae Jean Hultgren (nee Tudor), 72, a 50-year resident of Aurora, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at The Tillers in Oswego, after a courageous battle with cancer. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She married fellow teacher Dale Hultgren on June 22, 1968.

Rae Jean taught business education for many years in Aurora School Districts 129 and 131 and was a member of the Aurora Area Retired Teachers Association and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Aurora. She was the loving mother of Monica and Eric and the proud grandmother of Ava, Madeline, Cole, Zachary and Benjamin. Rae Jean is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dale R. Hultgren, Aurora; two children, Monica (Brian) Sampias, Naperville and Eric (Kristin) Hultgren, Aurora; five grandchildren; brother, Richard (Midge) Tudor, Des Moines, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Mary Tudor; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and Raymond Trembacki. got dirt? He married Patricia Cervantes and together they had one son, Kenneth Jr. Kenny had worked for the Rock Island Lines and in construction. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved building motorcycles. Survivors include his son, Kenneth East Moline; grandchildren, Kenneth III, Kevin, Ashley and Breann; a sister, Linda Roby, Davenport; many nieces and great-nieces and -nephews and his lifelong friends, the Martinez Family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; and brothers, Ronald and Jack.
